Israeli Wounded Veterans

Israeli Wounded Veterans Today, more than 50,000 members are given a new lease of life at our facilities in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beer Sheva.

Beit Halochem California, our mission is to support the rehabilitation, rebuilding, and enhancement of the lives of disabled Israeli veterans and victims of terror. Beit Halochem California Is a charity devoted to raising money for the Beit Halochem centres in Israel that provide lifelong support for the Israeli disabled soldiers and victims of terror. It was established in the wake of the War of Independence (1949), with the purpose of providing the 3,400 disabled soldiers with all their needs towards the long process of their rehabilitation. The organisation applies the philosophy that the disabled veterans should be cared for in an environment that is both congenial to them and to those around them. In keeping with this philosophy, Beit Halochem offers a variety of activities to occupy the family, grown-ups and children alike. Beit Halochem California recognises that the men and women of the Israel Defence Forces serve their country with courage and dedication. They are Israel’s first line of defence, a responsibility they face with inordinate bravery. The debt of gratitude that we in the greater Jewish world owe them is inestimable. Funding from our generous donors enables our members to regain their dignity and quality of life through social, sporting and educational programmes, conducted alongside their rehabilitation

In every generation, they rise up against us — and there are those who rise to protect us.
They gave everything.
And though the war may be over — the battle inside them is not.
They smile. They function. But their souls are still bleeding.
These are the wounds we don’t see — and the ones they carry alone.
This is why we exist. To stand by them. To fight for their healing — the kind no one else sees.
This Passover, be the one who doesn’t look away.
Be the one who helps them feel whole again.

Donate now – for their healing, and our shared humanity.

Wishing you a joyful Passover!

As we celebrate the journey from slavery to freedom, we are reminded that freedom comes in many forms. For some, it’s a personal journey—finding light after darkness, and healing after hardship. For others, that freedom is still out of reach.
This Passover, as we gather around the Seder table, we hold in our hearts those who are still captive and those who carry invisible wounds.

May the story of redemption inspire strength, hope, and compassion—for ourselves, for our people, and for all who long for freedom.
From all of us at Beit Halochem

The wounds you can't see are often the hardest to heal. Unfortunately, as many as 1 in 2 wounded individuals face PTSD. Fortunately, healing is possible with the right support.
85% of those who receive immediate mental health treatment are able to return to daily activity. That’s why at Beit Halochem, we go beyond physical rehabilitation, offering resilience walks, support groups, a listening ear, therapeutic treatments, and more. Join our cause or donate today.

Nitai Shenhar was a combat soldier and an operational driving instructor. In 2022, on the way to his reserve unit, a motorcycle accident changed everything. He lost his right leg above the knee. But four days post-surgery, he was already walking with a walker.

Nitai continues to push limits, mentoring new amputees at Beit Halochem. He shows everyone that resilience isn’t about recovery but redefining what’s possible.
