This program is open to all eligible individuals. SC CTSI operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, s*x, ethnicity, s*xual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.

Celebrating The New Graduates!
Earlier this month, 19 community health workers from across Los Angeles County successfully completed the 16-hour Chronic Disease Prevention Training!

These dedicated CHW's are now better equipped to bring health education and support to our communities, helping to reduce risk factors and promote long-term health and wellness.

This training was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Centene Foundation.

A principios de este mes, 19 trabajadores comunitarios de la salud completaron con éxito un entrenamiento de 16 horas sobre prevención de enfermedades crónicas.

Nuestros asistentes ahora cuentan con más herramientas para brindar educación y apoyar a nuestras comunidades, ayudando a reducir factores de riesgo y promover la salud y el bienestar.

📢 Just published in Frontiers in Public Health!

Our paper, “The Fundamentals of Health Research Training for Community Health Workers: A Mixed-Methods Study,” highlights the impact of our 12-hour training program designed to strengthen Community Health Workers’/Promotores’ ability to engage their communities in health research.

At the 12-month follow-up, participants reported sustained increases in research knowledge, confidence, and referrals to health research studies.

We’re proud to share this important work with the public health community.

¡Felicitaciones a los cinco promotores que completaron la capacitación Fundamentos de la Investigación en Salud en abril!

Durante esta capacitación interactiva de 12 horas, los promotores adquirieron conocimientos básicos sobre la investigación en salud, incluyendo los diferentes tipos de estudios, el proceso de investigación y los principios éticos que protegen a las personas que participan en los estudios. Esta capacitación les permite desmentir mitos sobre la investigación, educar a sus comunidades sobre su importancia y fomentar la participación en estudios que buscan mejorar la salud.

Greetings from Washington, D.C.!
Nicole Wolfe, PhD, and Brian Do-Golden, MPH, CHES, attended the Association for Clinical and Translational Science’s annual meeting, Translational Science 2025.

They presented two posters:
📌 Visualizing Impact: Operationalizing Community Engagement Evaluation using the RE-AIM Framework
📌 Promoting Health Equity through Social Media: A Community-Engaged Approach to Bidirectional Public Health Communication

At the conference, Nicole and Brian shared insights from our work at SC CTSI — including strategies for evaluating community engagement using implementation science principles, and how culturally and linguistically tailored social media can build trust and increase awareness of research and public health topics.

Felicitaciones a los promotores que participaron en la capacitación de Alcance Comunitario: "Etapas del Desarrollo y Autismo" en la iglesia Full Gospel Baptist en el sur de Los Ángeles!

Estos promotores recibieron conocimientos sobre el trastorno del espectro autista, aprendieron a abogar por las personas con autismo y sus cuidadores, y se les ofrecieron diversos recursos para apoyar mejor a las comunidades a las que sirven.
