Love Samantha Brown since I watched her shows on the Travel Network years ago - she is the person who inspired me to go on a solo cruise - which I loved - in 2009 - and have enjoyed many more since….
I am not a cruiser 🚢 who does them for the sake of doing them but find them fun and useful as a floating hotel - where you wake up in a faboulous new place every morning….it’s a buffet kind of vacation where you get the taste of a place - then can decide if you want to go back and spend longer - sometimes a day is all you need - I’m looking at you Spanish coast!

I’ve done several solo cruises in the Mediterranean, plus Hawaii 🌺 and Alaska 🐳 and even up and down the California coast during Covid 😷!!!!

Save this post for the next time you’re getting ready to leave for a trip and want to make sure all your bases are covered at home.

If you’re under attack - take no prisoners - but don’t over react!!!!!

When you solo travel 🧳 it’s imperative to keep your spidey sense up - and follow your instincts- if you feel under threat = leave the situation - if you are being attacked = cause a scene …. If you’re alone with a strange witch 🧙 = take them out!!!!

I hated getting up at 2am for 3am pick up - on Maui - but loved watching the sun rise through the clouds at Haleakala Volcano 🌋 we were above the clouds - that awe inspiring moment will stay with me forever - i was on a solo cruise around Hawaiian islands - after breakfast - inwent back to bed for several hours!!!!

Solo cruising is so much fun - you get to unpack once - awaken in a new place every day - you can mingle and meet new people or relax and recharge - I love getting a solo cabin and the spa package- which gives you access to saunas, whirlpools, often private deck, huge showers, tea and fruit - perfect place for sea days after the gym….or you can take a wine tasting class, see a show, and dance the night away….your trip - your call…..

Fun Solo Date in LA Academy Museum of Motion Pictures I love movies - matinees are $5!!!! Book online - you don't have to buy admission to the museum, but if you love everything and anything films, it is a Must-See - if you live locally, consider getting a membership for unlimited admissions and discounts on tickets and wee shop... they have a great film/Oscar heavy shop....
The only negative is parking - it's on the corner of Fairfax and Wilshire so it's $23-24, depending if you park at LACMA or Petersen museum, there is metered parking on 6th...and if you wish very hard, and the traffic Gods are favorable, you might get street parking on 6th...
If you do a Sunday matinee screening, you can park at at meter for free - most LA meters are free on Sunday, but look 👀 carefully at the signs....Enjoy - and if you see me - say Hi!!!!

For anyone who needs a time out from their day - I shot this 1st January 2025 - drove up through Malibu - it was perfect - then a week later - fires 🔥 of Hell were unleashed ….
I haven’t been back since…..would be too sad 😢
