You can feel the energy shift as race season approaches. This year felt different from the last — these runners showed up week after week, pushing their capacities while also learning when to listen to their bodies.

We’ve had the privilege of witnessing the work behind the scenes: showing up for PT sessions, getting the miles in, running through the rain, and sometimes having to slow down when the body asked for it. Not every training block goes exactly as planned, and we know how much it takes just to make it to the starting line. That alone is a huge accomplishment. Crossing the finish line only makes it that much more meaningful.

Some of you traveled from city to city to race, choosing a kind of hard that most people wouldn’t. And seeing you all with your medals reminds us how much heart went into every mile!

We’re so proud of each of you, and truly grateful you trusted us to be part of your journey. 🏅

This is a sidelying glute max activation drill using manual resistance to clean up hip extension.

You’ll notice he cramps in his hamstring — that’s because he naturally relies on his hamstrings to create extension instead of his glutes. Super common. If we don’t address it, that compensation shows up in lifts, sprints, and even daily movement.

Earlier in the session, Dr. Sydney opened up his hip flexors to create more available extension. This drill helps him actually use that new range — and own it with the right muscle.

Manual resistance allows us to fine-tune the effort and cue exactly what we want. Instead of just adding load and hoping the glutes kick in, we guide the pattern so the work goes where it should.

Ever wonder why two people can do the same exercise but feel it in completely different places?

If you took a room of 20 people doing the same movement, chances are each person is using totally different muscle groups — and at different intensities. Our bodies have mastered finding a way to complete a task, even if it’s not the most efficient way.

Rehab is strength training with more attention to detail — teaching your body how to access the right muscles, in the right sequence.

Our job as physical therapists is to take the guessing out of the equation — guiding people toward better movement patterns that actually carry over to how they move and feel in daily life.

This clip shows the second set of the same exercise — feeling completely different once we added verbal and tactile cueing to refine his movement pattern.
