A little lunch detour at The Grove for our Loft friends on their way back from Trader Joe’s.

Sometimes the best moments come from an unexpected stop, good food, and even better company. A perfect way to brighten the day!

Sometimes, the words of a song say exactly what the heart needs to hear.

“Just smile, though your heart is aching…”

Music has a beautiful way of meeting us where we are, bringing comfort, connection, and even a little light on the heavier days.

Today I’m sharing a special moment from my brother singing this timeless reminder. At Silverado Beverly Place, we see every day how music can lift spirits, unlock memories, and bring us together in the most meaningful ways.

Even on hard days, there is still beauty. There is still joy. And sometimes, it starts with a simple smile.

As many observe Shabbat and prepare their homes and hearts for sunset, we are honored to create space for that same sacred tradition here at Silverado Beverly Place.

Here is our Shabbat service through music with our residents. And, from our community to yours, we wish you rest, renewal, and a beautiful Shabbat.

Shabbat Shalom

If you walked into Silverado Beverly Place on Fat Tuesday, you would’ve thought you were on Bourbon Street.

Beads. Music. Laughter. Residents dancing. Staff cheering.

But here’s the real magic…it’s not just about the party. It’s about the people behind it.

Resident Engagement, Culinary, Maintenance, Housekeeping, and our incredible caregivers all pulling together to make sure our residents felt included, celebrated, and joyful.

It takes a strong team of leaders and an amazing Administrator who supports creativity and growth to pull off events month after month. And this team? They show up every.single.time.

So proud of to be a part of Silverado Beverly Place. 💜💛💚

Shoutout to Top Shelf Brass Band! They definitely brought the party vibes with them.

This past Thursday at Silverado Beverly Place, you could just feel the love.

It wasn’t over-the-top or fancy — just a simple gathering. Friends sitting close to one another. Laughter around the tables. Singing along to favorite songs like they’ve done a hundred times before.

These are the moments that matter. The simple ones. The together ones.

Valentine’s Day may come once a year, but the way we care for each other here? That’s every single day.

We are incredibly fortunate at Silverado Beverly Place to have such a robust and intentional Music Therapy program led by our Director of Music Therapy, Zachary Sipos Arakelian, MPA, MT-BC, NMT, alongside his dedicated team of interns.

Music therapy plays a vital role in dementia care. Research shows that it can help reduce anxiety and agitation, improve mood, support communication, and even stimulate long-term memories when other forms of expression become difficult. Rhythm, melody, and familiar songs tap into preserved areas of the brain—often allowing residents to engage, sing, move, and connect in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

The video below was during our monthly Jam Session last month, a little different from our daily music therapy groups, but the vibes are always the same: joyful, energizing, and full of movement, smiles, and dancing.

Our Jam Session reminds us why music therapy is so powerful: it’s not just about the music, it’s about connection, dignity, joy, and quality of life. And we are so grateful to witness that magic every day at Silverado Beverly Place.f

Late post: From last Wednesday’s walk to the Farmers Market to our Cooking Club using the fresh vegetables our residents brought back. Our amazing Director of Culinary and Chef Norman Argamosa, along with his assistant and Loft friend, Amalia, prepared a cabbage and veggie stir-fry with noodles in a sweet teriyaki sauce. The aroma filled our entire 3rd floor, leaving everyone hungry and eagerly waiting for a taste, and yes, it was delicious!
