I made it! Through every obstacle, every sleepless night, every setback—I kept going. This advanced degree was hard-earned in every sense. As a first-generation graduate, this moment means everything. Grateful, proud, and ready for what’s next. Congratulations to the MS-HAIL Cohort 24, Class of 2025!

One step closer to the dream!
Today, I’m proud to share that I’ve officially completed my Certificate in Pre-Medical and General Science Studies from UCLA Extension.

This journey was far from easy—especially after being on multiple treatments over the past year that took a real toll on both my physical and mental health. There were moments I felt like giving up, but I kept showing up, even on the hardest days.

Grateful for every lesson, every struggle, and everyone who stood by me. This certificate isn’t just a piece of paper—it’s proof of resilience, growth, and purpose.

The dream is still alive! And this is just the beginning. Purpose. Passion. Progress.

Why Physics is important in Nursing

In physics, volume is defined as the amount of space occupied by a substance or enclosed within a container. The volume of an object or substance can be quantified in cubic units, such as cubic centimeters (cm³), milliliters (mL), or liters (L), with 1 mL being equivalent to 1 cm³.

A 3 mL syringe has a volume capacity of 3 milliliters, which means it can hold up to 3 mL of fluid. Similarly, a 10 mL syringe has a volume capacity of 10 milliliters, indicating it can hold a larger volume of up to 10 mL of fluid. Therefore, in terms of capacity, the 10 mL syringe has a greater volume than the 3 mL syringe.

If you draw 3 mL of blood into a 10 mL syringe and also draw 3 mL of blood into a 3 mL syringe, the volume of blood in both syringes is the same, which is 3 mL. The size of the syringe does not change the volume of blood drawn, as long as the measurements are accurate. The only difference is that the 10 mL syringe is not filled to its full capacity, while the 3 mL syringe is at its maximum capacity. The concept of volume in physics remains consistent regardless of the container’s size; what matters is the amount of space the substance (in this case, blood) occupies.

What is then the implication of this when drawing blood from a PA catheter? A systematic review will soon be published.
