Stress relief for women over 50
Motivational Doc has been saying it for years, but it’s finally starting to click for people. Cortisol is the real problem. Not sugar. Not carbs. Not the small things we obsess over. It’s stress that wears down your hormones, your energy, your sleep, your confidence, and your ability to feel like yourself.
And one of the simplest ways to bring cortisol down is something many of us grew up with but forgot about: cats.
There’s real science behind this. A cat’s purr vibrates at frequencies shown to lower stress, relax the nervous system, and support healing in the body. But even beyond the purr, it’s their presence. Their calm. The way they make a home feel softer. The way they anchor you without asking for anything. It’s the kind of grounding energy so many women are missing today.
Maybe that’s why there seem to be cats everywhere now. Strays. Shelters full. Friends adopting. Videos going viral. Maybe it’s not a coincidence at all. Maybe the world is overwhelmed, burned out, and running on fumes, and these animals are showing up because we actually need them.
And if you choose to adopt, consider adopting two. It takes the same amount of effort, but it gives them a built in companion when you’re not home. They won’t feel lonely. They won’t sit in silence waiting for you. They’ll regulate each other, play together, and settle into your home with a sense of comfort and security that makes a world of difference.
If your life feels heavy, if you’re tired in ways you can’t explain, if your nervous system is fried from trying to hold everything together, consider this your sign.
Go adopt a cat. Or two. Let softness back into your life. Let calm back into your home. Let yourself be supported in ways you didn’t even know you needed.
Your body will thank you. Your future self will too.
