Earlier this month, OUR HOUSE Grief Support’s Spanish Community Program welcomed more than 500 attendees to the Día de los Mu***os outreach event on November 2nd.

A first of its kind in terms of scope and outreach in honoring the communities it serves across Los Angeles county. This was a deeply moving day of remembrance, healing, and cultural celebration.

Memorial quilts that were created by program alumni over the duration of their grief work (14 weeks) were on display, honoring loved ones during a spiritual ceremony before gathering for mariachi music, food, art activities, and a communal altar.

The event created vital space to destigmatize grief, strengthen community ties, and share information about our free grief support groups in our communities.

Today is Children’s Grief Awareness Day, a time to recognize the millions of children navigating the death of someone close.

We are proud to share that Los Angeles County has proclaimed November 20, 2025, as Children’s Grief Awareness Day, honoring young people who have experienced loss and recognizing organizations like OUR HOUSE that provide vital grief support through school programs, family groups, and peer connections. 💛

📊 1 in 11 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18.

By 25, that number grows to 15.5 million.

Childhood grief is powerful.

Without support, it can affect academics, mental health, and long-term wellbeing.

OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center, which hosts Camp Erin LA, provides grief support groups, caregiver education, and transformative camp experiences — so no child has to grieve alone.

💛 This past weekend we honored the incredible OUR HOUSE Children’s Program volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation Brunch. We celebrated the people whose compassion turns “Volunteering at OUR HOUSE” into something truly rewarding, challenging, life-changing, emotional, hopeful, fulfilling, purposeful, and beautiful.

During Children’s Grief Awareness Month, we’re reminded how essential our volunteers are. They sit with big feelings, provide space to process their grief, and help create community so that they know they are not alone in their grief.

OUR HOUSE online grief support groups serve adult grievers in Los Angeles County who face challenges traveling to physical centers due to distance, transportation issues, or work and childcare scheduling conflicts. All participants MUST be in the State of California for the duration of the groups in this virtual platform, which complement in-person services and provide flexible options for grievers to choose their own path toward hope and healing.
