𝘞𝘐𝘓𝘋 𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘜𝘕𝘐𝘖𝘕 ~ Saloli () joins Reflections in Seattle next Saturday, 2/21, opening for Visible Cloaks (). Architectural splendor, light in motion, full quadraphonic sound.

With just a Sequential Circuits MultiTrak synth and a delay pedal, Saloli’s Canyon LP (on Kranky Records) conjures the consciousness of a bear, imagining and rendering its everyday encounters with the environment into prismatic sound.

“In Cherokee teachings,” explains, “humans and animals are considered to have no essential difference – originally, all the creatures of the earth lived together in harmony.” Canyon is a vessel for that idea, both contemplative and playful. Like Beverly Glenn-Copeland or Hiroshi Yoshimura, Saloli pulls deep resonance out of deceptively simple compositions, drawing from her indigenous heritage to offer a vision of communion with the natural world.

From Raven’s lush, twilight-kissed, lo-fi arpeggios, to Klein’s saturated drones, to Surya Botofasina’s celestial improv, it’s a catalog of dissolving boundaries and daring beauty. 𝘚𝘗𝘈𝘊𝘌 𝘋𝘜𝘚𝘛 ~ So happy to announce that Omari Jazz () joins Reflections on Friday, Feb 20, in Portland, OR, opening for Visible Cloaks ().

Known for his otherworldly soundtracks and ethereal beatmaking, Jazz is also one half of the duo Black Decelerant. Their fantastic 2024 LP on is “an exploration of spiritual jazz traditions through contemporary tone and texture, exploring themes of Black being and nonbeing, life and mourning, expansion and limitation, and the individual and collective.” We can’t wait to hear him play in this historic Portland church, flooded with projection-mapped light. Featuring interviews with Reflections artists and friends (like Suzanne Ciani, Steve Roach, Flore Laurentienne, and La Monte Young & Jung Hee Choi), the text charts a network of practitioners whose work resonates with a shared interest in deep listening, material processes, and the poetics of entropy.

Through their LPs on (and bandmember Spencer Doran’s legendary mixes and compilations), the Cloaks invite us into a mutant audio world, tones in flux, destabilizing the foundations of the form.

𝘚𝘛𝘈𝘙𝘌 𝘐𝘕𝘛𝘖 𝘚𝘗𝘈𝘊𝘌 ~ For his first solo album Tragedy & Geometry (released on in 2011), 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗩𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗧 created an astral masterpiece.

Warm, delicately layered arpeggios weave together in a grid of ambient light, spiritually resonating with the Erwin Redl art installation seen on the album cover. It all calls back to Steve’s nü age influences like Iasos, Cluster, and Ash Ra Tempel (as well as his previous band, the Cleveland-based trio 𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗗𝗦). A kosmiche rain descending from the skies.

Steve performs at Reflections this March with composer Kara-Lis Coverdale. Each night is a convergence of sound, light, and space, held within sacred architecture. Tickets on sale now at our 🔗 in bio.
