Painted Brain creates lasting, community-based solutions to mental health challenges and the impact of social injustice through arts, advocacy, and enterprise.

Painted Brain is an innovative peer-run mental health arts and tech organization that uses a peer model focused on recovery. Painted Brain defines a peer employee as any person with lived mental health challenges and or trauma including but not limited to: social injustice, interpersonal violence, societal exclusion. Painted Brain considers all of its’s employees as peers, where there is no separation from community members to clinicians to executives; all identify with having mental health challenges.

La Academia de Liderazgo entre Pares empodera a los residentes del Condado de Contra Costa con experiencia en salud conductual para convertirse en líderes comunitarios sólidos. En tan solo cuatro semanas, los participantes desarrollan habilidades de oratoria, defensa de intereses y desenvolvimiento en los sistemas locales, con el apoyo de un mentor dedicado. Las clases reducidas, la asistencia para la accesibilidad y los estipendios facilitan el uso de la experiencia vivida para generar un cambio real en la comunidad.

Los participantes recibirán un estipendio de $200 al completar las 8 clases durante 4 semanas y una oportunidad adicional de estipendio después de la capacitación.

Congratulations to the first cohort of the Contra Costa Peer Leadership Academy on completing their training! 🎉

For their final session, each leader prepared and delivered a powerful 3-minute public forum speech on an issue that matters deeply to them—stories thoughtfully developed throughout the curriculum.
