Today is World Children’s Day. Whether you have kids of your own or not we are placed here to make life better for those around us, especially kids. Do your part to be the support, the fun aunt, the kind brother, or the wisdom filled elder. We all have a role. “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Frederick Douglass

The quarter-zip debate is revealing just how beautifully diverse Black fashion really is across the diaspora. Here in the U.S., Black communities have shaped the direction of beauty and style for generations. So now the question is on the table: is the rise of the quarter-zip a nod to respectability politics, or is it simply the next evolution of Black creative expression?

Which side are you on?

Beauty is more than just skin deep. It signals power, wealth and prestige. Our government knows this and they use pretty to their advantage. But what do you think?

Happy heavenly birthday and happy Veteran’s Day to my grandfather Col. Joseph T Powell. He served in many theaters of war but not with a gun, but with a Bible, acceptance, and love. He was the kindest man who always took a genuine interest in you and what you liked. He was never judgmental and always heard you out. He listened more than he spoke and his words left a huge imprint. I will always miss you Papa Joe and I will never forget you.

Beauty signals more than just desirability it signals goodness. Do you think we are drifting toward a national aesthetic?

Family is beautiful, but the bonds we choose can sometimes run deeper than the ones we’re born into. People say blood is thicker than water, but remember when you need nourishment, it’s water that sustains you. And if the “blood” isn’t healthy, it can’t support you anyway.

Your friendships matter. They show you who you are and what you value. Are the people around you supportive? Kind? Messy? Driven? Spiritual?
They are a reflection of you.

So ask yourself: Who is in your circle? And does that circle truly feed you?

Reading for the day.

Beauty occupies a liminal space formed by the tension between internal perception and external judgment. With society attempting to force us to see ourselves through its eyes. Yet, does external change actually truly recalibrate the self?

Why do we always look cuter in bathroom mirrors?
Here are 4 science-backed reasons you look hotter in the mirror:
1. Mere Exposure Effect – You see your reflection every day, so your brain naturally prefers that version of you. Familiarity breeds attraction.
2. Angle + Distance – Mirrors don’t distort your features the way cameras can. The consistent distance helps balance proportions, while lenses often exaggerate them.
3. Lighting – Bathroom lighting is usually softer and more diffused, which smooths shadows and gives a forgiving glow. Cameras tend to emphasize contrast and harsh light.
4. Cognitive Control – When you look in the mirror, you’re moving in sync with your reflection. You can make tiny, real-time adjustments that align with how your brain perceives your own face.
