Hyaluronic acid is in almost every moisturizer, serum, and toner on the market.

But most people using it daily are still not getting the results they expect, and the reason is almost always application, not the ingredient.

Here is what hyaluronic acid actually does:

it draws moisture from the environment (and from deeper skin layers) into the outermost layer of your skin. It temporarily plumps fine lines, supports your skin barrier when used correctly, and amplifies the effectiveness of everything you apply on top of it.

Depending on the molecular size, it can work at different depths of the skin, which is why not all HA products perform the same way.

The step most people skip? Applying it to damp skin.

Hyaluronic acid needs water to do its job. Applied to dry skin in a dry environment, it can actually pull moisture out of your skin instead of into it. Layer a moisturizer on top immediately after to seal it in, and you will notice a real difference.

It works for dehydrated skin, sensitive skin, dry or compromised skin barriers, and virtually every skin type. But results depend entirely on how you use it.
