In 2025 at SSRN Hospital, Mediclown de l’Île continued its weekly presence alongside children and their families.

Each week, medical clown interventions support children during medical examinations, procedures, waiting periods, and ward visits — bringing emotional support, easing stress, helping and empowering children in their care journey.

In November, an intensified presence during the Mending Kids paediatric cardiology mission provided additional support to children undergoing complex heart procedures.

Since 2018, this work has been made possible thanks to the continued support of Novaterra— providing additional emotional support for children, families, and healthcare staff throughout the hospital experience.

In Guatemala, nearly 100 children received life-changing care in just one week. 💙🇬🇹

This mission also offered a small group of students the chance to experience what the delivery of global health care really looks like in an underserved setting.

They observed, supported families, and showed up with so much heart. It’s a reminder that compassion doesn’t wait for a certain age.

Just returned from Paraguay, where another Mending Kids team was at work while our Guatemala mission was underway, a little further south but just as meaningful. 🇵🇾🌍

Working alongside local partners at Hospital General Pediátrico Niños de Acosta Ñu, the team focused on children born with complex colorectal malformations, conditions that can affect every part of a child’s daily life if left untreated. 🏥

Led by Dr. Jason Frischer of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and Dr. Beth Rymeski of Cincinnati Children’s, the visiting team worked side by side with local providers to evaluate and care for children who otherwise would have little access to this specialized surgery. 🩺🥼

⭐️ 41 children were screened.
🌟 15 children received the care they needed.

For these families, access to colorectal care can mean the difference between a lifetime of struggle and the chance for a healthier future.

Grateful to the surgeons, nurses, volunteers, and our partners in Paraguay who made this mission possible, and to the families who placed their trust in our hands. Paraguay, thank you for welcoming our team. 💜🦋
