Happy .... feeling grateful to be in on this special day. I remind you to Stop and just look around you. Open your eyes, your nose, and your ears. What do you see? What do you smell? What do you hear? As I’m writing this, I’m lucky enough to be in magical Costa Rica. Windows are down and I hear the waves, crickets, cicadas, and other insect noises. I see dark green all around me (it is night right now) and smell fresh earthiness. Thank you Mother Nature and Mother Earth for all that you have given and continue to give. I’m humbled to be able to take in all that you share through 5 working senses. 🌎

Heard smiles are contagious! Let’s do more of that. Welcome to 2021. We are tired, we are worn down AND we are hopeful, we are resilient.

“Pain will make us turn away from the world if we are not careful. It will isolate us and fill us with despair. Pain will make us competitive instead of compassionate. Because if you are not using your pain, your pain is using you. And so we must use our pain to find purpose. Pain can drive us apart, yes, but it can also be that which brings us together.”

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know. If we run a hundred miles an hour to the other end of the continent in order to get away from the obstacle, we find the very same problem waiting for us when we arrive. It just keeps returning with new names, forms, manifestations until we learn whatever it has to teach us about where we are separating ourselves from reality, how we are pulling back instead of opening up, closing down instead of allowing ourselves to experience fully whatever we encounter, without hesitating or retreating into ourselves.” Thank you Pema Chodron for your words of wisdom. 🙏❤️ Wounds will not heal until we attend to them. They will keep showing up. Addictions, unhealthy habits, emotional regressions, repeated intense dysregulated emotions, or problems that show up in one’s life is a road map to a deeper underlying issue. Take a moment to lean into it and go do the work to not muffle the issues with addictions or other unhealthy behaviors. When these repeated issues come up for you, see it as a gift... a gift of letting ourselves know where to turn into ourselves and pay attention. Be gentle with yourself 💜 and be brave.
