Graduation photos part 1!!

I graduated on July 9th 2021! To say I was relieved to pass is a massive understatement, and I honestly can’t believe I made it. My dream has come true and I’m now working as a junior doctor! These are some of the professional photos I had taken, as well as some others that Mum and I took. More photos to come in another post!!

Warwick bloggers/bloggers/medgram gang met up for the first time today ❤️ such a wholesome evening with these wonderful people!! who I've had the joy of studying with for the past 4 years has been amazing- having been on the same rotations as him, often in the same hospital for the past 18 months has been super fun, and it will be extremely odd not seeing him around the hospital as he moves away to start his F1 job whilst I will be staying in the area!

I have seen so many people start the process of applying to medicine and seeing these wonderful people achieve this dream has been wonderful and knowing they will all make great doctors is so rewarding, especially seeing them come so far!

Thanks guys for a wonderful evening - let's do this again soon!!

~ REFLECTIONS ON WORKING DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS ~ Wednesday 24th June was my last shift as a semi-permanent member of staff on the Infectious Disease ward at UHCW. I signed up to work there due to the covid-19 outbreak, and given my experience working on another ID ward in a different hospital, I was more than willing to put myself on the frontline. Although I was only doing 24 hours a week, those hours proved to be extremely beneficial for the patients and staff on the ward. It really was a privilege to be able to help out during this time of need. I start my placements again this Monday, starting on my acute block, so that is why I have had to leave my contracted position, however I really hope to continue to work on the bank on the same ward when I can. I’ve seen so many patients recover and leave hospital when we didn’t think they’d recover, and I’ve also seen patients unfortunately die. So many of the patients have touched me in so many different ways and there are many patients who I will continue to think about for a long time. The staff on the ward were absolutely wonderful, and I could not have asked for a kinder, more supportive, friendly team. Covid has brought so many negatives, but working on this ward has been a positive for me, despite the negatives.

It's been a VERY busy two weeks, and a pretty stressful one too, for lots of different reasons! I've had my birthday, Winter Ball, an opthalmology evening, a trip to A&E with a close friend of mine who had an unfortunate accident (but is fine and recovering slowly!), all on top of probably one of the busiest weeks I've had at uni in a while. Part of my week has been teaching on Oxygen Therapy, Nebulisers, Inhalers and Peak Flow measurements, with a TDoc a few days later (essentially an assessment to check my knowledge and that I know how to use them appropriately and correctly). I've also had a workshop on fever and unexplained weight loss and spent time on the wards, my first full day at GP, and an academic day at uni. I've been completely shattered this weekend and haven't really done any studying this weekend, but sometimes you just need to take care of yourself, relax, and take some me time! Personally, Ive watched TV, slept loads, and played piano :) so next week will be better, less stressful, and will hopefully go smoother.

What do you do to relax after a stressful week?

CCE1 is a different kettle of fish and it is taking some time to figure out how many conditions to write notes on, how much detail to go into and so many other things... But I think I'm getting there! I am really enjoying spending time on the wards and in clinics! 👩🏻‍⚕️
·
Do any of you have any tips for learning in the clinical environment? 📝

Happy new year!!🎉🎉🎉

So I’m back and one of my New Years resolutions is to post here much more regularly, and to care less about how the picture looks as I would take so many photos but never post as there was always something wrong... as a result, I never posted! So here’s to changing that!!

Today I’m studying at a desk which I inherited from my Dad but is where my Mum usually does her sewing! I’m going through some cardiology with a focus on ECGs and all the physiology behind them. I also have spent a lot of time doing general admin type stuff!

I also have a week in the life video line up to post later this week - let me know what sort of videos you’d like to see! Am hoping to film a video on how I take notes on my iPad :)

Firstly, thank you all so much for helping me reach 1000 followers here on Instagram! It truly means so much to me and I am so so grateful! So thank you!!

Now for the caption! My greatest weaknesses when it comes to spending money are Apple Products and fancy notebooks (mainly leuchtturm and moleskine notebooks). In preparation for starting second year of med school, I went and bought a notebook for hospital notes, after looking at probably 100 different notebooks in total from Ryman and Paperchase which are pretty much next door to eachother in Oxford 🙈! Eventually I decided on a copper Leuchtturm dotted pocket notebook! (Swipe to see a picture!) I am also trying to decide on whether to get a notebook for bullet journalling or whether to get some sort of planner/academic diary! I'm so indecisive it's such a hard choice 😂 we also bought some general stationery for my mum's business which made my stationery obsessed heart happy!!

What is your favourite notebook and why? Do your prefer planners, diaries or bullet journalling??Let me know down below!

An old photo from when I was revising for resits. As much as medicine is hard work and I need this month to rest and recover, I'm sort of missing studying, even if I don't have the energy to 😂 maybe it's the routine, or maybe it's just me missing making notes which I do find quite relaxing at times (which is admittedly probably more than a little weird)! But I am aware I need this rest and oh boy am I exhausted 😂😴

I hope everyone preparing for the UKCAT / GAMSAT / UCAS Applications are doing okay! It's a long slog but you'll get there eventually 💪🏽 if you want me to read over your personal statements then just send me a message ☺️ (I'm by no means an expert though) also check out my Youtube channel for tips on the UKCAT And personal statement etc 🤗
