March is Women’s History Month. Today we focus on Dr. Tu Youyou, the first Chinese woman to receive a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Her discovery of artemisinin, a key component of Qing Hao (青蒿), has had a tremendous impact on global health, particularly in the fight against malaria. Malaria has been a life-threatening infectious disease since ancient times and the world has seen countless deaths caused by it. Her work has not only paved the way for Eastern medicine but also highlighted its crucial role in advancing science and validating herbal medicine 🌿🩺
