This story from Peoria captures something we see every season at ACEing Autism.

It talks about kids showing up to their first ACEing Autism session shy, quiet, and unsure, and how, over a few short weeks, many of them start opening up. Not because anyone forces it, but because they’re finally in a space that’s patient, supportive, and built for them.

It’s one local program, and it’s something we see again and again across ACEing communities. When kids feel safe and accepted, confidence has a way of finding them.

🌟 Some legacies help us understand each other better. Leonard Nimoy’s did exactly that.

We are proud to share that Richard Spurling, Founder and Executive Director of ACEing Autism, has been recognized alongside leaders and achievers such as Billie Jean King and Jenson Brooksby by the Nimoy-Knight Foundation with the "Live Long and Prosper" tribute.

Leonard Nimoy’s portrayal of Star Trek's "Mr. Spock" introduced the world to a character who saw and processed things differently, often in ways others didn’t immediately understand. His perspective became one of the show’s greatest strengths and a defining part of its message.

For generations, Spock’s story has resonated with people who navigate the world in their own way, including many in the autism community. His blend of logic, heart, and honesty offered representation that felt rare and meaningful.

Richard shared that this is why the tribute is so meaningful. His work has always centered on creating spaces where autistic kids feel accepted and building a more empathetic world in the process.

🖖 We are grateful to the for the reminder that honoring difference makes all of us stronger.

What started as an idea from a local high school student turned into a community-wide effort to bring ACEing Autism to Flagstaff, Arizona, and the first session is officially in the books!

With support from NAU Athletics, local USTA groups, and dedicated volunteers, seven athletes had the chance to learn, play, and connect in an inclusive tennis environment.

We’re so proud to see this program take off!

ACEing’s footprint continues to grow nationwide, and that momentum is felt in New Jersey, where nearly 12 programs are now running across the state and more than 20 across the tri-state area.

South Orange, NJ, is part of this expanding network of communities connecting kids through movement, inclusion, and play.

As program director Sandy LoPiccolo shared, “Bringing this program back to our community has been everything I hoped for – creating a space where kids can enjoy the game of tennis, stay active, and build meaningful relationships with their peers right here at home.”

One of our favorite parts of ACEing Autism? Every athlete works 1:1 with a trained volunteer. This empowers our athletes to stay engaged and learn in a way that feels right for them, with support, patience, and encouragement every step of the way.

It means more connection, more confidence, and more moments that matter. 💙🎾
