griefHaven Providing unique, loving and educational grief support to all of those who lose a loved one. Providing support and grief education to first responders, those on the front lines, and those impacted by grief in their work.

griefHaven provides loving, effective, and transformational grief support using many different approaches so there is something for everyone. The approach to support includes results of research on the grieving brain, coping skills, and specific exercises that help with loss, trauma, and general grief for all losses, including death of a child, spouse, parent, and sibling.

griefHaven also provides support and grief education to first responders, those on the front lines, and those impacted by grief in their work. griefHaven.org and

griefHaven, was launched in 2003 by Susan Whitmore after her only child, Erika Whitmore Godwin, died from an extremely rare sinus cancer at the age of 32. Soon after Erika's death, Susan began "looking around" for what was available to help her with the gut-wenching and life-altering pain and sorrow she was living with, only to be surprised that there was very little variety "out there."

Three months after Erika died, Susan had a surprising and profound experience that led her to starting griefHaven and putting up the griefHaven website, fulfilling the first major project, which was a documentary film about the death of parents entitled "Portraits of Hope: The Parent's Journey." This documentary can be seen on the griefHaven website and includes many high profile celebrities.

Since everyone grieves differently, griefHaven's overall goal is to continually learn the latest on grief support and tools available to make sure that griefHaven always has a large variety of different types of support to pick and choose from and to help change the grieving brain (see past newsletters and videos online about the grieving brain).
