I used to say “I’m a nervous flyer” but I decided that I don’t want to identify as someone who is just scared of flying forever because it’s something I deeply want to overcome. ✈️

A few years ago I worked with a therapist who made me realize that this fear developed after I suffered a major brain injury. I took a fall that was completely out of my control and ever since then, I don’t like being in situations where I’m out of control. So even though I grew up flying regularly and was never anxious, this developed as a result of that traumatic event.

Obviously everyone’s root cause is different but it was actually really helpful for me to discover mine so I can continue to work through this.

What I do know helps fore sure?

Nervous system at regulation practices like breathwork, laughter and meditation are key.

Nutrition matters more than you’d think.

Mindset reframing is a game changer.

Having family or friends who provide a calm, grounding energy is priceless.

Asking Chat GPT to give me stats that reassure and remind me how safe it really is to fly is actually SO helpful.

I know I’m not the only one who deals with flying anxiety so I’m hoping some of my tips can help you too. 🙏

When it comes to travel, I dont pack a million supplements, but these 4 are my MVP’s 👆

Travel is meant to be fun (I personally can’t wait to be back in Oregon for Christmas with my family 🤍), but it also comes with stressors that can impact our immune system, gut, and hormones. ✈️

Flights, airports, and time changes expose us to more pathogens, disrupt sleep, and throw off our circadian rhythm which is why a little extra support can make the difference between feeling run down and actually enjoying your trip.

I focus on immune-supportive herbs, gut support (because no one wants to feel bloated and backed up in their party dress), and tools that help my body stay regulated, not perfect.

I also usually pack melatonin or valerian root for sleep support (note to self: grab a fresh bottle 😅), especially when time zones and late nights are involved.

Traveling as a holistic health coach isn’t about restriction or obsessing, it’s about mindfulness and having simple systems so I set myself up to feel present, energized, and balanced.

Because feeling good on vacation > “getting back on track” when you get home.

If you’ve ever been told that “aging sucks” or that “it’s all downhill from here,” that is absolute horse 💩!

In my 20s and early 30s, I was running on adrenaline, cycling through burnout, exhausted 24/7, struggling with my weight (and my period), and surviving off caffeine and diet foods…

And from the outside, it looked like I had it all together.

If someone had told me back then that I’d actually feel younger, more confident, energized and regulated at 40, I would’ve laughed.

But as I type this after my 40th birthday… I know that the best is STILL ahead of me. And I believe the same is true for YOU.

And if your brain immediately goes to “must be nice for her,” pause. Your current reality is not your destiny. You just haven’t been given tools or support that you actually deserve.

I’m Rich.

I may not have a million dollars but I have a million in the memory bank and for that, I am so grateful.

I’ve always valued experiences and travel over material possessions and last week in Cabo with my hubs and mom-in-law, I was reminded just how lucky I am to get to have these moments.

Cooking class and a farm-to-table feast at the organic

Snorkel trip where we saw a family of whales putting on a show from the boat (truly the most aw inspiring experience)!

Meeting the most incredible 93 year old woman who reminded me how beautiful and graceful aging can be! Stay tuned for a video series I did with her 😉

Working from the balcony of our hotel room each morning and remembering how lucky I am to work from anywhere

Eating delicious meals without worrying about calories or carbs and proud of myself for the nourishing and happy relationship I have with food 🙏

Dressing up for date night with Josh and going to our favorite spot for dinner. We’ve been married 12 years and we still love to date each other!

So while we won’t be doing our usual Thanksgiving this year (Josh has to work 😩), I’ll be giving thanks for all that I have in my life including my amazing family, friends, clients and community.
