This is Steve. He has a CVT freezer full of pouches in his house. Let me explain…

A few months ago, we did our first Costco Roadshow in Sandy, Utah and made a rookie mistake. We had to make an emergency run to Home Depot for an extra freezer, and we were back in business.

At the end of the weekend, we met Steve, who loved our ice cream. I jokingly said, "Any chance you need a freezer full of soft serve pouches? Otherwise, I have to return it before my flight.”

Steve had a pickup truck, a sweet tooth, and incredible timing.

He left with the freezer and about 750 pouches.

Thank you for having me and for the pics Mrs. Frisoni! Earlier this week I spoke at my niece's highschool to both a culinary class and a business marketing class. I let them know that you don't need an MBA or to graduate from a fancy culinary institute to run a food and beverage business...sometimes a theater degree and a lot of hustle works too. My niece said I didn't embarrass her, so I'm gonna take that as a win.

This feels like Christmas came a week early, so I have to share a story about one of the good ones...

Back in May ’23, when we launched into retail, LA went crazy. The buzz caught the attention of a few major grocery players. One took a look...and passed.

Why?

“No soft serve in retail.”
“Not enough data.”
“Not sure people will eat ice cream out of a pouch.”

Brutal to hear, but fair. Not every door opens on the first knock.

Thanks to our customers, the buzz didn’t die. About a year later we got word from that same retailer that another ice cream brand was having production issues, and suddenly the door cracked open again. We were offered a 30 store test and told, “If you do the numbers you say you can do, we’ll talk expansion.”

Challenge accepted. Thanks to all of you, we didn’t just hit them. We blew past them 🙌

I was in Atlantic City in October when the “Let’s talk” email came through, and immediately pulled a full Taylor Swift and hopped on a flight to Phoenix for a 30 minute meeting. No Zoom. Not for something this big.

Fast forward 2.5 years…That original “No” just turned into a YES 🥹

After almost 12 years of running my own business, I’ve met plenty of talkers, posers, and professional BS-ers. So when you cross paths with someone who actually keeps their word...who says what they mean and means what they say...that’s rare and worth celebrating!

Today I had the opportunity to speak to a group of young entrepreneurs about the trials and tribulations of running a food truck business.

I told them not to take advice from anyone who hasn’t actually done it themselves. And even if they have…trust your instincts and build YOUR version of the business.

My favorite question of the day..."Did you bring ice cream?"

Of course I did.
