California psychologists, under the leadership of the California Psychological Association, came together for Lobby Day at the State Capitol to meet with legislators and advocate for what matters most: quality and accessible mental health care for all Californians.
A key focus of our conversations was ensuring that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are used ethically and responsibly in mental health care protecting patients while keeping care human-centered.
Grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with policymakers Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel and Assemblyman Heath Flora in elevating the voice of psychologists in shaping policies that impact both providers and the communities we serve.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet awareness and education around it are still limited for many people.
Providing accessible education especially through widely consumed platforms like television can play a powerful role in changing this. When the public understands common signs of mental health disorders, people are more likely to recognize struggles in themselves or their loved ones and seek support earlier.
Awareness creates understanding. Understanding creates compassion. And compassion opens the door to timely support and treatment.
Investing in education is not just a professional responsibility, it is a public health priority.

Today, in a live interview with Voice of America on the topic of recent unrest in Iran, I stated that for the people of Iran to achieve freedom, they must stand united.
When individuals begin to see themselves as part of a collective “we” rather than isolated “I’s,” their sense of purpose strengthens and fear diminishes. Collective support strengthens psychological resilience. Knowing that others share the same struggle fosters meaning-making, which is essential for maintaining mental well-being during prolonged hardship. 💚🤍❤️

Participated in the Golden Future 50+ Expo with the Los Angeles County Psychological Association Community Outreach Committee and the Conscious Aging Special Interest Group. I spoke about “Improving Sleep Through Psychology and Lifestyle,” highlighting how mental health plays a crucial role in healthy aging.
As we age, prioritizing mental wellness including quality sleep, stress management, and positive lifestyle habits is essential for maintaining vitality and resilience. It’s inspiring to be part of a community dedicated to supporting the well-being of older adults.

I was deeply moved to attend Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services’ Alive Together event at UCLA, sponsored by Los Angeles County Psychological Association. It was a day full of powerful conversations and reflections on the importance of mental health care and the need for a collective commitment to eliminating stigma.
One of the key takeaways for me was the critical role we all play in supporting each other whether by asking for help when we need it or being there for someone who’s struggling. We’ve come a long way in raising awareness, but the stigma surrounding mental health still prevents so many people from reaching out for the help they need.
Being able to ask for help without fear of judgment is essential for healing. And just as important is being someone who is available to listen a listening ear can make all the difference for someone in need.
A special thank you to Lyn Morris, LMFT (CEO) for her leadership in pushing these important conversations forward.

California Psychological Association Convention Successfully Concluded!
What an incredible few days in Long Beach! We’ve officially wrapped up the CPA2025 Convention, and it was nothing short of a success.
Huge congratulations to for organizing and executing such a seamless and impactful event. From insightful sessions to engaging panels, the energy and professionalism throughout were truly inspiring.
We wrapped up on a high note with the networking luncheon hosted by Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate, and celebrate our shared goals.

Wrapping up an incredible 4-week journey!
Today marked the final session of the psychology workshop series I had the pleasure of teaching. Over the past month, we explored key concepts in psychology through lively discussions, thoughtful questions, interactive activities, and generous feedback from participants.
It was an honor to work with such an engaged and open group. Your curiosity and willingness to share created a space of real connection and growth.
A heartfelt thank you to Pars Equality Center for organizing and supporting these workshops and for their continued commitment to mental wellness in our community.
