🧡 There’s nothing quite like an announcement from Taylor to shake me out of whatever rut I’ve been in.
Today, the sparkly orange that descended upon us brought me right back to last year in my hometown — a night unlike anything I’d ever experienced. New Orleans was taken over. Postcards for voters were being written in the hotel lobby. Friendship bracelets were traded with strangers. There was so much love and understanding.
Taylor said that night we’d never think of her songs the same way again, and she was right.
I danced next to the man who had recently become my husband — a “Love Story” I never thought I’d have. “Shake It Off” hit differently after starting to process years of slt shaming and whispered judgments while I explored my own sexuality when I was young. The surprise country songs tugged at my roots, heartbreaks, and the parts of the South I’ve felt disconnected from. She wore the LSU colors I wore as a little girl. Every detail felt deeply personal.
Looking back at the footage today reminded me that dancing, belting songs and letting the tears flow is the best when energy is feeling stuck.
To my fellow Swifties — I’m riding this wave of inspiration with you. 🧡
