Caregiver training is in the news! CALÓ News featured the Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) training programs for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) caregivers in Los Angeles County.

CCA partners with Public Authorities, such as Personal Assistance Services Council LA & Managed Care Organizations, such as L.A. Care Health Plan to offer free online caregiving courses in multiple languages.

For , CCA is proud to share a rich history with SEIU Local 2015! 26 years ago, there was a strong group of women who were members of SEIU Local 434b (before it was SEIU Local 2015).

-These women founded the Home Care Workers Training Center (HCWTC). Their goal? To provide In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) caregivers with educational opportunities so they could build better lives for themselves and the people who depend on their care.

-HCWTC later became the California Long-Term Care Education Center (CLTCEC)

-Which today is the Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA)! We are also proud to be carrying on the work of our founders!

This month we honor these women, pictured at SEIU L2015 HQ:

Before we were SEIU Local 2015, we were SEIU Local 434B, other legacy locals, and countless women who led the way toward a new vision of long-term care. Before the contracts, the raises, and the protections, there were women who showed up, spoke out, and built this union from the ground up.

This Women's History Month, we honor the trailblazers who made the Future of Care possible.💜

💲Get paid to learn! Caregivers can receive payment after completing all 10 modules of the course.

IHSS Caregivers learn to assist their care recipients with personal care, infection control, proper nutrition, home safety, medication scheduling, and more!

Eligibility: Must be an active IHSS Caregiver living in LA County.

During National Apprenticeship Week we are sharing what a CNA apprentice had to say about the free CNA training she received. This training was offered in partnership with CCA, SEIU Local 2015, The & her employer at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) in Northern California.

Tina V. had been working in the kitchen department at the Kingsburg Care Center when she enrolled in the "CNA Career Training Pathway" program. As a graduate of this program, Tina now provides direct care to residents & she is thriving in her new role!

CCA's joint training program with L.A. Care Health Plan teaches In-Home Support Services (IHSS) caregivers advanced skills, enabling them to provide high-quality home care to older adults & people with disabilities who are L.A. Members. 💙

IHSS caregivers spend 10 weeks learning how to take on the enhanced caregiver roles of Monitor, Communicator, Coach, Navigator & Care Aide.

CCA honors the National Strike that activists, unions, and community leaders are calling a National Shutdown to protest ICE’s violent actions in our country.
