If political content has felt irritating or heavy lately, it doesn’t mean you don’t care.
It often means your nervous system is already carrying a lot.

Avoidance, numbness, and scrolling past aren’t moral failures. They’re protective responses.
But protection doesn’t have to mean disconnection.

We don’t navigate systems that cause harm by ignoring them.
We navigate them by staying in relationship, conversation, and sustainable action.

If you want to support without burning out, here are a few grounded ways to engage:

• Donate, even small amounts, to immigrant legal defense or bond funds
• Share accurate information that reduces fear and misinformation
• Use language that names survival responses without pathologizing them
• Talk about what you’re feeling in spaces that are safe enough to stay regulated
• Protect your capacity so you can stay connected long-term

You don’t have to be loud to be aligned.
You don’t have to do everything to do something.

Save this for when your capacity is low, or share it with someone who’s been hard on themselves lately.

Whether you’re new to the work or you’ve been doing it for a while, these books are such solid places to start 👇🏼

1. The Gift of Therapy
Tiny chapters, big wisdom. It feels like getting a behind-the-scenes look at what actually helps people grow in therapy.

2. The Myth of Normal
A deep but accessible look at how our culture shapes stress, trauma, and the way we relate to ourselves. Makes you go “ohhh… that’s why.”

3. When the Body Says No
If you’ve ever wondered why your body reacts the way it does, this one connects the dots between long-term stress, boundaries, and health.

4. How to Do the Work
A practical, straightforward guide for understanding your patterns and actually changing them. Lots of “that’s me…” moments.

5. The Mountain Is You
A gentle (but honest) look at self-sabotage and how we get in our own way. You will highlight half the book.

These are the kind of books that stay with you and help you make sense of yourself in the best way.

What should I add to my list next?
