Forces are in place that are larger than our present thinking. Fallout and Future from the November 8th Election

I like this quote, and it seems appropriate at this time of unintended consequences. You must always be aware that unintended consequences are in play. If in doubt, you might want to read the book "Hurtling Toward Oblivion," written by Richard Swenson, M.D. and physicist.

We are poised to finish a structure of our society, and as the United States enters into a number 9 personal year in 2023, many systems will begin their unraveling. Clean-up will be part of 2023.

November 8th has some very dramatic heavenly transits. Several planets are retrograde, and there is also an eclipse. Expect surprises.

We are in a very karmic time period for the United States. 2022 has been an 8 personal year and the Lord of Karma, Saturn, rules this number. People will respond out of fear rather than examination. Violence is a potential outcome unless we can manage ourselves and think rather than react. "The autonomous self of the Age of Progress is giving way to the ecological self of the Age of Resilience. American Indifference to Assaults on Their Democracy

I have been doing more reading on the parallels of the death of the Roman Republic and the life span of the United States. The underlying cause of the fall of the Romans was "complacency" not hubris. This killed the Republic. Representative democracies tend not to live long. The Roman Republic lasted 500 years which is unusual as most Republics only last a few generations. America is past its prime time for both Republics and Empires.

Americans have seen government shutdowns become political tools, the confirmation of judges routinely blocked or even denied a hearing for a Supreme Court justice. None of these things were normal a generation ago. Wealthy rivals use the veto so that they might block proposed reforms. American voters, feeling secure that their Republic will endure continual assaults on American political norms, have responded with surprising indifference to these radical actions.

"Romans failed to stop these cycles of political dysfunction in large part because they did not imagine their republic could die. Indeed, no single person or choice destroyed the Roman Repubic. It was much too robust for that. But the individual Roman politicians and voters who chose not to punish political obstruction, reckless populism, and intimidation steadily eroded the Republic's integrity." Edward J. Watts. This is the real risk of political complacency. Until Donald Trump came along, America largely turned a blind eye to the damage done by past generations of political dysfunction and what it has done to our Republic. Morally and legally dubious political tactics seemed harmless.

Today Americans continue to vote for representatives who endorse overthrowing legitimate elections, who traffic in threats and intimidation and paralyze legitimate proposed legislation. These decisions continue to weaken our Republic. There is a real risk that Americans will repeat Rome's mistake.
