Chronic fatigue syndrome (now known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) has never had a single cause or a single treatment pathway.

The truth is what many of us see today: ME/CFS is multifactorial. No single test explains it, and no single intervention resolves it.

For clinicians working with these patients, this complexity is the rule, not the exception.

Does this match what you're observing in your patient population? Tell me in the comments.

In many Long COVID cases, the gut is one of the first places we see things go off track.

Research consistently shows a shift in the microbiome: fewer protective bacteria, more pro-inflammatory species, and signs of increased gut permeability. When the gut barrier weakens, immune triggers can move systemically and contribute to autoimmune activity, a pattern we see again and again in post-viral patients.

Viral persistence in the gut may be one of the drivers, disrupting tissues and barrier function over time.
For clinicians managing complex Long COVID, gut integrity isn’t a side note, it’s a central piece of the puzzle.

If you’re seeing this in your patients too, let me know in the comments.

EBV doesn’t just “go away” after mono. It stays in the body, especially in B cells, and can reactivate when the immune system is under stress.

When that happens, it can throw the immune system off balance and contribute to autoimmune conditions over time. This includes lupus, MS, thyroid autoimmunity, celiac disease, and more.

For clinicians, this is an important reminder: when patients present with complex or unexplained immune symptoms, past viral activity may be part of the picture.

Many headlines say Long COVID is “in the brain.” The truth is more complex.

Long COVID often starts in the lungs and gut, and when barrier systems break down, immune triggers can reach the brain, driving neuroautoimmunity. EBV reactivation is another key piece of this puzzle, contributing to both Long COVID and autoimmunity.

At Immunosciences Lab, we focus on the immune pathways behind these patterns so clinicians can see the full picture, not just the final destination.

Would you drink vinegar by the liter? 🥴

Most people wouldn’t… but many drink Pepsi or Coke, which have nearly the same acidity.
That level of acid can stress the gut lining, leading to chronic inflammation.

Over time, that inflammation can set the stage for autoimmune activity.

Education matters because understanding what we consume is the first step toward protecting our health.

At Immunosciences Lab, we’re committed to advancing awareness of how everyday exposures affect the immune system.

Not all brain inflammation starts in the brain.

When your body fights infections like herpes type-1, antibodies form, and sometimes, they cross into the brain.

There, they meet the complement system, and together they can spark tiny fires of inflammation around neurons.

Over time, those fires may contribute to autoimmune activity within the brain.

At Immunosciences Lab, our mission is to advance understanding of how immune responses, infections, and environmental triggers interact, so clinicians can recognize early patterns and support prevention.

Only about 30% of disease risk is genetic.

The other 70%? It’s environmental… think exposure to toxins, reactivated infections, and contaminated food.

What’s even more remarkable: the immune system often starts producing antibodies against those triggers years before symptoms appear.

That means diseases like Alzheimer’s and autoimmunity don’t happen overnight. They build silently over 3 to 20 years, giving us a critical window to intervene.

When we identify and remove the triggers, we can calm the fire before it burns.

At Immunosciences Lab, our testing helps identify these early immune responses, revealing the hidden triggers behind chronic inflammation and autoimmunity.

Because prevention begins with precision 🧬

It’s not just what’s in your food, it’s what’s left behind in your body.

Aluminum is added to cheese, baking powder, and processed foods to enhance texture and extend shelf life.

New evidence shows nearly 40% of that aluminum enters the gut’s epithelial cells, the very barrier that protects you from toxins and inflammation.

When those cells are overloaded, they can’t function properly… and the ripple effect can reach all the way to your brain.

Your gut isn’t just a digestive organ, it’s your body’s control center.

Plastic doesn’t just pollute the planet, it can pollute your biology.

Dr. Vojdani explains how everyday toxins, such as BPA and phthalates, can quietly interfere with brain chemistry, ultimately fueling inflammation over time.

This is why we test.

Because identifying immune reactivity to environmental toxins can change the trajectory of chronic disease.

Your immune system keeps score, even when you don’t feel it yet.

30 years behind. 🤯

That’s how Dr. Aristo Vojdani describes conventional medicine’s pace compared to functional and integrative approaches.

The irony? The same gut-brain-immune connections once called “impossible” now headline Nature Medicine and Scientific American.

Functional medicine continues to lead where others follow. Progress may be slow, but it’s happening.

And at Immunosciences Lab, we’ll keep driving it forward 💪

If you’ve visited our booth at a conference, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Rubina! Her energy, warmth, and deep knowledge are hard to miss.

As both our Lab Manager and Marketing Director, Rubina bridges science and connection, ensuring that every clinician, patient, and partner experiences the precision, reliability, and care that define Immunosciences Lab.

Rubina is also the daughter of our founder, Dr. Aristo Vojdani, and she’s carried his legacy forward with a shared passion for advancing immunology and educating the next generation of practitioners.

From overseeing daily operations in the lab to representing our work at major medical events, Rubina embodies our mission: bringing complex science to life through human connection.

Because behind every test, every result, and every innovation, there’s a person who cares deeply about getting it right 💙

Behind every test we create is a story of science, and often, one of lived experience.

When Dr. Aristo Vojdani contracted COVID-19, his journey with post-infection inflammation deepened his resolve to understand the immune aftermath of viral illness.

From that experience came years of research and over 20 peer-reviewed publications, culminating in Immunosciences Lab’s Long COVID Panel and Long COVID & Brain Health Panel.

Our mission is clear: empower clinicians with tools to detect what others can’t yet see, the hidden immune shifts that shape chronic disease.

Your patients deserve more than reassurance. They deserve answers. Tap the link in our bio to learn how to integrate Immunosciences testing into your practice.
