Beyond Addiction: The Yogic Path to Recovery
The 16-module course is designed for individuals seeking to develop healthy, self-promoting habits and to overcome self-defeating behaviors (i.e. substance abuse, unhealthy relationship patterns, disordered eating, workaholism, gambling, etc.). It is also designed for yoga teachers and individuals who work with people who are addicted. No prior experience with yoga is necessary. The program is based on Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan and integrates the teachings of Gabor Mate and other experts in the field. Dr. Wendy Harris (Livtar Kaur) is an IKYTA Level 2 certified teacher of Kundalini yoga and meditation and Director of the Addiction and Recovery Specialization at Antioch University Los Angeles, Masters Program in Clinical Psychology. As an instructor and teacher trainer with Beyond Addiction, she integrates her experiences and knowledge as a yogi, teacher, and therapist to bridge the gap between academia, clinical settings, research, and Kundalini Yoga. Chantal Gopal Priya Schaefer is passionate about working with women suffering from addiction and helping them find a way back to themselves. It was through her own struggle with addiction that she found Kundalini Yoga. After five years of recovery, feeling at risk of relapse, she discovered Kundalini kriyas for addiction, and with the support of other women, was able to move beyond her fears. Chantal is a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor and will receive her degree in Addiction Studies from Pierce College Los Angeles, December 2017. Wendy and Chantal are based in Los Angeles, where they practice daily Kundalini Yoga. They train extensively with Sat Dharam, founder of Beyond Addiction, and facilitate immersions internationally.
