Play.Connect.Grow

Play.Connect.Grow Play.Connect.Grow. provides online resources and training for parents and direct therapy for kids. Play is the oldest and most effective form of social therapy.

Everyone on Earth has learned most of what they know about human interaction through playing with others and developing social interaction skills at an early age. We learn everything through play, from basic eye contact to making sophisticated compromises to true emotional connections -- it's all there. To truly play, you must connect to a loving and accepting place, where your only goal is to have fun with another person. I run my practice on the notion that the increase in autism is the world's way of inviting more love and acceptance and playful connection into it. Our first goal is always to support a happy child and a happy family.

Play is a unique therapy in that you don’t need a degree or clinical background to know how to do it. You already know how, if it feels hard that’s because you’re buying into the pressure that you’re going to some how “make” this child change.
You can’t.

You can however be somebody worth changing for.

It sounds so simple, but it is a key ingredient in social communication. We tend to focus on eye contact when it comes to communication therapies, however, there is a lot of value in children just being allowed to look at our faces without making eye contact. They will still be taking in our facial expressions and they won’t feel pushed or pressured to make eye contact all of the time, which can be very challenging for children, autistic or not. Eye contact is a very intimate and intense experience, it’s a way of sustaining attention, but also sharing emotion. In nature, it can be a sign of aggression. Eye contact can be hard! Looking at people's faces is a great start.

💔 "The Silent Breakfast: Another Missed Connection Between Mother and Son" 🍳👩‍👦📱

In a world filled with distractions, the sacred bond between a mother and son often takes a backseat. Instead of meaningful conversations over breakfast, screens steal away precious moments of connection that you will never get back. Let's remember to put down our devices and truly engage with the ones we love.
