ABOUT "Mindful Kindful YOUniversity" ~
Sound Healing / Drum Circles / Retreats

Mindful ~ Kindful ~ Peaceful: The moment to moment practices to transform our lives into harmony with our true nature. Flowing and Growing Through Life: Everything is energy and energy is transforming. Season gently transforming to the next season, daylight into the darkness of night, windy storms settling into stillness. A fallen leaf eventually becomes part of the earth, a fallen pine cone becomes food, or a seed becomes a tree or a flower. What may seem like the end is actually the becoming of something new. Energy becoming. Who have you become? Who are you becoming? Life has a way of bringing up this question again and again as we confront both daily challenges and life-changing events. What if who you are becoming, or hope to become, is also about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you so you can discover, or re-discover, your true nature and how you want to show up in life no matter what obstacles may appear - in health, relationships, or other life circumstances. "It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey." ~Wendell Berry

The word university is derived from the Latin word universus, meaning “whole, entire.” Mindful Kindful YOUniversity (MK YOU) is the study of YOU and your whole-being on this journey of life. Learn and practice how to navigate and flow through life moment to moment in a healthy, balanced, and positive way for mental and physical health and well-being. Your well-being is the most important education you will ever receive in the school of life. Learn pragmatic, simple evidence-based practices to navigate the ups and downs of daily living and positively support you in responding to life as it is — the good stuff, the tough stuff, all of it — with grace and the skills to be mindful, kindful, and peaceful. Experience for yourself how these practices and essential life skills of mindfulness, heartfulness, supported by nature and sound energy, can be the foundation for greater strength, resilience, health, and happiness. I would be honored to be your guide.

Today, Feb 25, is Day 26 (of 64) of the Season for Nonviolence. The theme is “Respect”. (Swipe for all images)
The Season for Nonviolence (SNV) spans 64 days, from January 30, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, to April 4, the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. Each year, people around the world participate in the SNV by taking a personal pledge to create intentional time each day for reflection and practice on the theme of the day - different aspects of nonviolence—within ourselves, our relationships, our communities, and the world—recognizing that global healing begins with personal and collective care.
Mindful Kindful YOUniversity offers daily reflections and practices throughout the season as a heart-centered companion for the Season of Nonviolence (adapted from long-standing SNV teachings and the wisdom of many inspirational leaders across generations). Feel free to join in responding to the reflections and sharing if it feels meaningful for you!

Flow state is that magical space where time softens…
thinking quiets…
and you are fully immersed in the present moment.

Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi described flow as a state of deep absorption — when what we are doing feels both natural and engaging, and we lose ourselves in the experience. It’s where effort meets ease. Where self-consciousness fades. Where we feel fully alive.

In mindful drumming, flow happens through rhythm.

The steady beat gives the mind something simple and grounding to rest on.
The body begins to entrain.
Breath aligns.
Hands move almost on their own.

There is no performance.
No right or wrong rhythm.
Just listening… responding… belonging.

In a drum circle, flow becomes collective.
We attune to one another.
We practice presence.
We experience what it feels like to be both an individual voice and part of something greater.

Mindful drumming isn’t about musical skill.
It’s about awareness.
Connection.
Expression.

It’s meditation in motion.
It’s nervous system nourishment.
It’s coming home to your own natural rhythm.

Come feel it for yourself.

Last night‘s drum circle at was pure medicine - with permission to get downright silly and PLAY - we shared pure joy and deep belly laughs with some fun squeaky toys. I don’t think I’ve seen people laugh so hard in a long time. I know we all NEEDED it!And then came the magic of soul connection through song. We turned inward while staying connected and let our voices blend creatively and harmony through song, and longing for deep down peace. Mmmm- it was everything and I left with such gratitude for our beautiful circle.
Next month, I’ll be returning to Mystic Nature for immersive sound through a Sound “Bath” Journey on the 20th. See you then! (See linktree for registration link )Dee

My Story

Mindful Kindful YOUniversity offers Mindfulness-based Social-Emotional Learning Enrichment Programs which provide a rich experience for all ages through learning and engaging in practices of mindfulness and movement grounded in science and backed by research to support mental and physical health and well-being.

Mindful Kindful YOUniversity equips and teaches children, teens, and adults HOW to cultivate the inner resources, or “superpowers” for reducing stress and experiencing more balance, resilience, and overall well-being by integrating evidence-based strategies and practices of mindfulness, movement & yoga, and social emotional learning to develop the essential life skills of emotional intelligence, or “Sm’Heart skills” — the essential education for responding more skillfully to life in the 21st Century!

These positive habits will transform, not only inner peace and happiness, but also our social dynamics at school, at home, at work, and in the community! These are skills for life!

Hi! I am Dee DiGioia (di JOY uh). I am a wholistic educator who finds great joy in helping others discover and understand the inner workings of the mind and body, while cultivating the life-skills and positive habits for emotional, physical, and social well-being. The practice of mindfulness is integrated into all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally, and I am coaching others to do the same.
