The biggest mistake I see women make (especially in perimenopause)?

👉 Under-eating… while expecting their metabolism to magically work harder.

When your body doesn’t get enough fuel, it doesn’t burn more fat. ⛽️

It slows everything down. 🐌

Your nervous system perceives scarcity. Cortisol rises. Digestion weakens. Energy drops. Cravings increase. Your body shifts into conservation mode. 🥶

This is your body trying to protect you.

And this matters even more as we age.🏆

Hormonal shifts already place extra demand on your body. Add chronic under-nourishment, and now you’re asking your system to function without the basic building blocks it needs.🤯

Proper nourishment isn’t optional.
It’s foundational.

This is where we start. Day ☝️.

• Hydration
• Consistent nourishment
• Movement
• Sleep
• Intentional mindfulness practice

When I work one-on-one with clients, we don’t chase trends or overhaul your entire life. We focus on these five areas first because they are truly the foundation.

Together, we find ways to make these pillars attainable, simple, and sustainable, so the changes actually stick and create long-lasting results.

The beauty of focusing on these five pillars is that they give you an easy way to check in with yourself throughout the day. And when one or a few of these areas is not optimized, it allows more compassion for oneself and the ability to self correct to give yourself what you need.

Am I hydrated?
Have I eaten enough?
Have I moved my body?
Did I sleep?
Do I need something more intentional right now?

It’s about doing what matters, consistently. 🫶🏽

Self care starts from the nourishment we give ourselves starting from the inside. 🫶🏽

I have yet to meet a client (or any woman in perimenopause for that matter) 🙃 that does NOT have a goal to increase their energy.

After speaking to a new client for just a few minutes, I’ll be able to hypothesize that they actually are NOT eating enough throughout the day.

So OF COURSE you feel lethargic, unmotivated, like you’re running behind, and can’t keep up. ☠️

Your brain and body TRULY don’t have enough fuel to support you in being human! Just like a car can’t run without gas ⛽️

One of my biggest hacks is to plan your breakfast the night before. No one has space or capacity to make decisions on the fly when chaos is swirling about.

Help the future you by taking 5 minutes at night to make a plan for the morning… you’re likely scrolling anyways... 📱🙈

Your body and mind will thank you 🙏🏽

Working with clients in the wild is a huge perk for both the client and myself. Although my services are primarily virtual: wellness + nutrition consulting, one-on-one yoga and distance reiki, I love being able to offer locals “add on” services including in-store market support, pantry makeovers (my favorite!), meal prep and planning oversight and more personalized opportunities and experiences!

The look of relief on my clients faces when I remind them that every day is an opportunity to do things different, is something I wish I could bottle up. 🫶🏽💫

While doin life, it’s easy to get caught up in the “what’s next”. We forget that we can make a small change and it can have a major impact and potentially really change the course of our day.

When I remind clients of this, their shoulders lower, their face relaxes and a smile slowly creeps across their face ☺️

Everyday is a new day. Celebrate and have gratitude for the things you CAN do today… move your body, take a deep breath into the belly, compliment a stranger, have a cup of hot tea.

This week, your nervous system needs movement more than ever.

In perimenopause, in particular, movement and light exposure helps stabilize our stress hormones, like cortisol, and our overall mood and energy.

Remember, we were designed to live with the sun. ☀️ Always prioritize being outside when you’re able. If the weather does not permit, supplementing with vitamin D can be helpful for overall mood support.

It’s a gift to be able to move our body 💪🏽
Seek light when you can ☀️

All I want for Christmas are these five foods to help stay grounded through the holidays 🎄🎅✌🏽✨ 🎁

Perimenopause is already a wild card for your nervous system. 🃏

Add busy schedules, gatherings, travel or disrupted routines and everything feels much heavier. 🙏🏽

Some days the support you need literally wanders up with a thick winter coat and big curious eyes to say hello. 🙏🏽🥺🥰🦣

Other days it’s a friend who actually gets why your ears itch, why your hormones decide to give you a surprise 3 a.m. wake-up call, or why your brain occasionally takes a tiny unapproved vacation mid-sentence. 🏝️

Perimenopause is a wild landscape and having support matters. 🏔️

People who check in. People who ask how you’re doing. People who make you feel normal in a season that can feel anything but…

Support can also look like… your dog begging you for a walk, a neighbor to help water your plants while you are away, a business bestie to hold you accountable to your goals, or a friend that meets you for yoga class… 🤟🏽

When perimenopause hits, your body and brain need predictability more than ever.

Your 20s could handle and possibly thrive in unpredictability.😂
Perimenopause?
Not so much.

When your hormones fluctuate. You’re nervous system leans harder on anything predictable, especially what you put in your mouth!

Regular meals are therapy to your body and nervous system. 💆🏼‍♀️

Because when you:

Skip breakfast

Under eat all day

Rely on caffeine

Nibble instead of eat real meals

Go long stretches without nourishment

…Your body shifts into survival mode. 🚨

Cortisol climbs. 🧗‍♀️

Blood sugar swings. 🎢
