Time to do yard work!!!
When doing yard work remember that proper posture can minimize upper and lower back pain, neck strain and shoulder aches. Just as playing a sport can injure your body, the twisting, turning, bending, and reaching of yard work can also cause physical harm.
You need to stretch 10 to 15 minutes before working. Doctors of Chiropractic suggests knee- to- chest pulls, trunk rotations, and side bends with hands above your head and fingers locked. Take a short walk to stimulate circulation. Repeat the stretching exercises when you are finished gardening.
Stand as straight as possible and keep your head as erect as possible while raking or mowing. Bend at the knees, not the waist, when picking up leaves or grass. Make piles small to decrease back strain when lifting. Apply your whole body weight to push the mower, rather than just your arms and back. When you feel sore or stiff, use ice to soothe the discomfort. If pain continues, see your chiropractor.

Knee Problems

The knee is a complex joint with several gliding surfaces, cartilage pads and strong ligaments. Due to this complexity, the knee is often injured, especially at this time of the year when people are becoming more active in sports, spending time in their gardens and doing a great deal of biking and walking. The most commonly affected part of the knee is the patella, or kneecap. Often the patella does not move smoothly or effectively on the femur when the knee bends, causing abnormal stresses upon the tendons, cartilage and ligaments. The problem normally originates when there are imbalances in the quadriceps muscles of the thigh that attach to and move the patella. This condition is called chondromalacia patella (CMP) or patella femoral syndrome. Pain from CMP is experienced especially when climbing stairs, running, jumping and getting up from lengthy setting. Women are more apt to have this problem because of their body build and from wearing high heels. Chiropractors are ideally trained to provide the necessary diagnosis and management of knee problems. The main treatment for mechanical or overuse injuries is re establishing proper muscle equilibrium, restoring appropriate movement to the patella and other joints of the knee, and improving any subluxation or misalignment of the sacroiliac joints and foot problems. In certain cases, a brace is used to help with patella alignment or joint stabilization.

An injury can cause acute medical conditions. You hurt your back sweeping or lifting something the wrong way or your child falls and gets a sprain. These types of conditions usually require frequent treatments by a chiropractor in the early stages when there is pain and swelling. How long it takes depends on the severity and type of problem. Early treatment will help prevent the situation from becoming chronic or persistent.

Do you have a slipped disc?
Disc can't really slip, but they can bulge, herniate or protrude which can cause a lot of pain and problems. If you have a problem with a disc in your neck, it can cause pain, numbness ,weakness in your shoulders, arms, wrist or hands. If you have a disc problem in your low back, it can cause pain, weakness, numbness in low back down the legs even to the feet. Chiropractors offer a non-invasive treatment called an adjustment to relieve the pressure that is put on the nerve roots caused by a disc problem. It is important to try conservative treatment before considering surgery or addictive pain medications. Don't continue to suffer call 606-638-9898 for app.
