My comment this morning… that should’ve been the post. Good morning folks!

“The epigenetic effect of trauma is real- it’s why we are hyper vigilant about many things. However, the cycles don’t just come from slavery but from the broken and backwards ass way that Black people have been treated since slavery. It’s not just we started at the bottom now we here and get over it- it’s deconstructing a system that was intentionally designed for us to work the system and never gain from it. Therapy is a great tool to understand the root of your stuff AND to also understand the cycles, thought patterns, and perspectives that drives us to do what we do. It’s also a way to develop your goals, and move forward in the healthiest of ways. As a Pan African therapist this []hit home.” -Elishia Durrett-Johnson

Community selfcare event alert! All things selfcare in one location on August 13th from 11am to 6pm!

Come out on August 13th from 11 am to 6 pm for the Healing Block Party at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center for all things selfcare in one location. Free childcare for ages 5 to 10 y/o. Community kickball games will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm (ages 10+). KJ in the Midday with Magic 101.3 will be our special guest host!
