Meet Jill Ligon Davis, MS, CCC-SLP!
We asked how Jill became interested in working with people who stutter:
"I became interested as I began to learn about the neurophysiological origin of stuttering. Our brains are fascinating, marvelous places and when we can gain a greater understanding of how they work, it can be so empowering. My interest in stuttering continues to grow as I have explored this with clients and we learn from one another along the way."
What does the Spero Ally of Stuttering® Seal mean to Jill?
"Spero and the Ally of Stuttering Seal is SO important for our field. The speech therapy community has learned a lot about stuttering since I was in graduate school. SLPs need to continue to stay on top of the research and Spero provides a way to be accountable for this.
A lot of the adults I work with had early speech therapy experiences that didn’t always help them to feel confident and knowledgeable about their stuttering. But we know better now--I love that we can all keep learning anew! I can keep learning from my clients and all the amazing researchers and advocates for stuttering. And my clients can learn that it’s okay to stutter!"
