That pounding behind your eyes might not be what you think! Mistaking a migraine for a sinus headache is common, but treating the wrong one won't bring relief. Here’s how to spot the difference:
🛡️ The Sinus Headache
Usually triggered by allergies or a cold—it’s all about congestion.
👃 The Stuffiness: A runny or plugged-up nose.
🤢 The Drainage: Thick mucus in your nose or throat.
🎭 The Pressure: Pain in your cheeks, forehead, and around the eyes.
🌡️ The Context: Usually pops up while you're fighting the flu or a cold.
⚡ The Migraine
A complex neurological event that is often much more intense.
🔨 The Pulse: Severe throbbing or pulsing pain.
🌓 The Sensitivity: Light and sound feel "too much."
🤢 The Stomach: Nausea, vomiting, or dizziness.
🚩 The Location: Often hits just one side of the head.
🏃♂️ The Movement: Pain gets worse if you move or stay active.
🔍 The Quick Test
Symptoms: If you feel nauseous or light-sensitive, it’s likely a Migraine. If you have a fever and thick mucus, it’s likely Sinus.
Timing: Sinus issues last about a week. Migraines typically last 4–72 hours and are triggered by stress, weather, or lack of sleep. ⏰
