Meet Helen Xin
Helen has been volunteering at FCC since August 2025 as a medical scribe, where she plays an important role in supporting physicians by accurately documenting patient encounters, medical histories, and clinical findings. She was drawn to FCC because of its mission to serve the uninsured, a cause she feels strongly about. She believes that access to healthcare should not be determined by background or financial status, and FCC’s commitment to providing compassionate care aligns closely with her own values. What Helen enjoys most about her time at FCC is the opportunity to learn something new every day. Each clinic session brings a different set of patients, conditions, and experiences, creating a dynamic environment where teaching moments are constant. Through observing providers and working alongside fellow volunteers, she continues to deepen her understanding of medicine while developing valuable clinical and communication skills. Just as meaningful to her is the sense of community at FCC, where she has built strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and patients alike.
Helen finds the work especially rewarding knowing that her contributions help patients leave the clinic feeling more informed, supported, and confident about their health. Being part of a team that makes a tangible difference in patients’ lives has reinforced her passion for service and healthcare. Outside of FCC, she enjoys spending time baking a variety of pastries, studying in coffee shops, and going on walks. These activities give her a chance to recharge, reflect, and maintain balance while continuing to pursue her interests inside and outside of the clinic.
