Birth Louisville

Birth Louisville Birth Louisville, LLC is owned by Angela Garvin. Angela has worked in the Louisville area as a childbirth educator and doula since 2006.

She provides education and support to families during the childbearing year. Birth Louisville, LLC offers a variety of education formats--for pregnancy, labor & birth and parenting! A special workshop was created for experienced parents, Second+ Time Around. The most popular class offering, Empowered Birth, is an original 6 week Lamaze inspired curriculum. Empowered Birth classes are not centered on any specific birth outcome. Classes focus on empowering parents to navigate the journey by trusting in the natural birth process, asking questions, building their confidence and learning a variety of comfort measures for labor. Online and in person classes are offered on various days of the week. Check the website for the most recent schedule. The class fee is $225 and includes handouts and materials. To register, visit www.birthlouisville.com. Classes usually fill 2 weeks in advance.

Good news! The next Empowered Birth and Empowered Birth: Home/Birth Center sessions begin in May...and we will be able to meet in person for three sessions! A couple of things to know:

• Location is still pending--I hope to confirm this by the end of the weekend. Note: the Tuesday Empowered Birth section will meet at Rainbow Blossom on Bardstown Road. (pending).
• We will be following CDC guidelines and Governor Andy Beshear's executive orders for in person meetings.
• If you aren't comfortable meeting in person, you cannot wear a mask OR you live out of town, you can still join us from home--classes will be livestreamed.
• Space in classes will be limited due to social distancing measures, so please do NOT wait to register.

Important advice—I need this reminder too, as the parent of a teenager. My son insists on wearing shorts year round.

This made me smile. I know this is a battle that many parents frequently have with their kids.

Yes, the meme is simple in its message. Yes, there are examples when kids should wear a jacket.

Here's the take home message: We shouldn't impose our own sensory preferences on our kids.

Instead, collaborate with them. It's a great time to learn about their sensory processing, and you can tell them about your own!

A reminder to all.
