A taste of this week at Brownsboro Park! 🍁

As you’ll see, we will not be hosting our usual dinner service on Thursday evening. Instead, our Thanksgiving Day meal will be offered from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and we’ll have plenty of food for residents to take home afterward.

We’ll be reminding residents throughout the week, and we would truly appreciate your help in reinforcing this change with your loved ones as well.

Thank you for your support! We will return to our normal dining schedule next week. 🦃

This week, we welcomed Leah Hatfield from Neuro Restorative for a Community Speaks presentation on stroke awareness, cognitive health, and more. Leah shared valuable insights on recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke and maintaining brain health. Our residents enjoyed the opportunity to ask personalized questions and take home helpful reading materials.

Our Veterans took great pride in leading today’s program. Robert Sholund (Army) opened with heartfelt reflections on the trials faced by troops and their spouses. Garry Rollins (Army) followed with a moving prayer from a military spouse. Gunther Wall (Army Medical Corps) filled the room with his harmonica rendition of God Bless America, and Jackie Moore (Army) led us in America the Beautiful. Raymond Suell (Air Force) closed with gratitude, calling this one of the most meaningful Veterans Days he’s experienced in the 70 years since his enlistment. This is THEIR day. ❤️

We hold close the memory of our resident Veterans who have passed and honor all who served, known and unknown. Thank you, Veterans, for your service and sacrifice.

Veterans Day began with the delicious smell of eggs, bacon, and homemade french toast casserole! 🇺🇸 🥓 This morning, we hosted our annual private breakfast to honor and thank all of our Veterans for their service. We love our Veterans and cherish the opportunity to celebrate and remember their sacrifices. 💙

This afternoon, we’ll continue the celebration with a special Veterans Day program dedicated to honoring both our current and former residents who have served. It’s a day filled with gratitude, remembrance, and community.

2020 was a strange year for all of us, and many of our most cherished holidays, like Veterans Day, were derailed. While we couldn’t celebrate in our usual, more traditional way, our Activities team put their heads together (while staying six feet apart) and came up with the idea to film a sit-down interview with our veterans. They had help from Barb Polk, one of our frequent Happy Hour performers.

Many of the faces in this video have since passed away, leaving only their spirits here with us. We miss them every day, and videos like this help us keep their memory close.

As we approach Veterans Day 2025, we wanted to rewind and look back at those interviews from a much stranger time. Enjoy, and Happy Veterans Day!
