• Traditional Surrogacy– the surrogate mother donates her egg and is artificially inseminated with the sperm of intended father. The surrogate mother then carries the pregnancy.

• Gestational Surrogacy – the intended mother provides her eggs, the intended father provides his sperm and an embryo is created. The couple’s embryo is then transferred into the surrogate mother, who carries the pregnancy. In both types of surrogacy, the couple has a biological connection to the child. When a couple works with Surrogate Parenting Associates, they will follow the pregnancy through conference calls, ultrasound pictures and finally by being present at the delivery where they will bond with their child immediately. Both couples and surrogates undergo a number of physical, psychological and background tests to evaluate their ability to participate in the program.
