When you finally learn to embrace and love who you are... when you find purpose and a way to help people... it's life-changing! For Justin, this happened only after he was honest about his substance abuse and followed through with a recovery program. He has come so far in just a short time, even being promoted at Norton after only working there a few months. We're so proud of his hard work, his sobriety, and the boundless potential we see in him! Thank you, Justin, for being willing to share some of your story with us!

Recovery isn’t just about putting substances down — it’s about healing what’s underneath.

This article breaks down why understanding mental health, trauma, and emotional regulation is essential to sustaining long-term sobriety. When people learn to name their emotions, process their pain, and build healthier coping skills, they’re far more equipped to stay on the path of recovery.

That’s why aftercare programs like ours matter so much.

Our program integrates mental health techniques with everything needed for human flourishing: community, safe housing, counseling, job skills, accountability, and a support system that continues long after initial treatment.

When people feel safe, supported, and empowered, real healing happens — and real recovery lasts. 💙

Depression, anger, and addiction are closely related, as those with substance use disorders often have co-occurring mental health issues. Learn more about this connection.

The Beacon House team was on the go and on location filming another powerful story of a life changed.

We will be highlighting a new career in the story too. And it just so happened to be an appreciation week for that job when we got there. Such a cool moment.

The featured story drops on Friday! Stay tuned!

A study published in the "Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment" found that individuals in recovery who regularly volunteer are twice as likely to maintain long-term sobriety because service strengthens relationships and reinforces positive identity.

That’s why service isn’t an add-on in our program, it’s an essential part of the transformation happening here.

And we’d love to expand these opportunities. If your business, church, or organization has a project or need where our residents can serve, we want to partner with you!

“Beacon House residents joined forces with Kentucky Colonels as they tackled a huge organizing project. The hours spent helping the staff saved them countless hours, thus allowing the team at the Home to spend more time with their precious residents. Thank you, Beacon House, for stepping up and helping us make an impact!” –Sherry Crose, Executive Director

This month, we got a powerful reminder of how compassion and community can change lives.

Jason traveled 3 hours to the Beacon House to get the help he needed to fight his addiction and turn his life around. Yet, one of the hardest decisions he faced was leaving behind his loyal dog, Mindy, especially if he committed to a program for more than 30 days.

As Jason began his journey of recovery, he soon realized he needed more time to learn and build a new life of sobriety, which meant finding a way to make sure Mindy was cared for too.

Thanks to CRC Paws-Cause, led by Randy Tipton who is a 2004 Beacon House Alumni, Jason didn’t have to choose between his best friend and his recovery.

The mission of CRC Paws-Cause is powerful and clear:
“We help people get the treatment they need by providing care for their pets.”

Today, that mission came to life! Jason’s friend Joel drove Mindy 3 hours so they could spend some time together at the Beacon House. It was a warm, emotional reunion full of tail wags, hugs, and gratitude, before Mindy left with Randy and the CRC Paws-Cause team to her temporary home.

Now, Jason can focus fully on his recovery, knowing that Mindy is in good hands, safely and happily waiting for him.

Because of partnerships like CRC Paws-Cause, people in recovery can take that brave first step toward healing without worrying about their loved ones.
