Yesterday, I had the honor of holding sacred space for a beautiful emotional release during an 80-minute massage and Reiki fusion session. As I channeled energy into her sacral and solar plexus chakras, I could feel old, heavy emotions beginning to rise. Tears began to fall…releasing guilt, shame, anger, and sadness that had been stored within her for far too long. Gradually, those emotions transformed into a sense of acceptance and inner peace.

Her sobbing continued gently as I moved toward her third eye chakra. I rested one hand on her heart and the other on her forehead, softly reminding her that she was safe… that her emotions were valid… and that she was deeply loved. I offered a tissue, guided her breathing, and allowed the Reiki energy to restore balance and calm.

When we finished, the energy in the room felt powerful and sacred. Still, I couldn’t help but wonder if it had felt too intense for her. So many of us have been conditioned to hide our tears and silence our emotions, especially when rooted in childhood experiences. I checked in with her, brought her water, and encouraged her to take her time grounding before leaving.

She assured me she felt better, and about 30 minutes later, I noticed she had already booked her next session.
💗
That reminder meant so much. People do crave a place where they can be fully themselves where healing is allowed to flow without judgment, without needing to hold everything in.

I’m grateful to offer that kind of safe, sacred container for healing. And if your heart and body are asking for release, renewal, or deeper connection with yourself… I’m here to hold that space for you too. 🤲

Sometimes the best way I can help is by knowing when not to.

There are times when someone comes to me in pain, and every part of me wants to help them find relief. That’s why I do what I do. But sometimes, through assessment and touch, I realize their pain isn’t something that can or should be fixed with massage alone.

On Friday, a young woman came in with pain between her shoulder blade and spine. That’s a very common place for tight muscles and trigger points in the rhomboids or lower traps. But as I worked gently through the area, something felt different. It wasn’t muscle, fascia, or a typical knot. It was hard and raised, like a rib might be protruding. When light pressure caused pain instead of relief, I knew it wasn’t appropriate to continue.

I stopped working that area and explained that I didn’t feel massage would be helpful right now, and that she should see a doctor or chiropractor for imaging to understand what was really going on.

Moments like these remind me how important it is to stay humble and trust my training. To listen not only to what a client tells me, but also to what their body is quietly communicating. I’m grateful for the education and mentors who taught me that part of being a good therapist is knowing my limits, and caring enough to refer someone out when that’s what’s truly best for them.

For me, assessment is a very important part of the therapeutic massage process .
If you’ve been in pain and aren’t sure whether massage can help, I’m always happy to talk it through and help you find the best path forward, even if that means pointing you in another direction first.

💛 Listening with my hands…

I had a client come in this week with neck and shoulder pain she’s been struggling with for months. She told me her doctor and PT kept brushing it off and prescribing pain pills that only made her sleepy, but didn’t actually help.

When she shared her story, I did what I always do: I listened. I asked what hurts, when it hurts, and how it feels… and then I let my hands listen, too. After testing her range of motion and palpating the fascia, I could feel exactly where her tension was coming from. Her right side hurt - but it was actually her left side doing all the holding.

When I explained what I found, she teared up and said, “Thank you… I knew I wasn’t crazy.” 🥹

That moment hit me right in the heart. After 13 years of practice and thousands of hours of education, I’m still amazed at how powerful it is just to listen - both with my ears and my hands. Pain doesn’t always show up where it starts, and sometimes the most healing thing we can offer is validation.

I’m endlessly grateful for the trust my clients place in me, and for the chance to help people feel seen, understood, and hopeful again. 🙏

If you’ve ever felt unheard or dismissed about your pain, please know your body’s messages are real, and they matter! 💛

If you’re tired of feeling like no one “gets it”, I’d love to help you get to the root of what’s really going on.
