This conversation felt more like two old friends catching up than a formal podcast... and that’s exactly why I loved it.

I want to thank my friend and colleague Dr. Eli Camp for having me on the Vital Wisdom podcast to talk about naturopathic medicine, mindset, healing, relationships, polarity, and how humor fits into a healthy life.

Curious, honest, thoughtful… and not too serious about ourselves.

Check it out!!! Just dropped a new podcast convo with my friend and colleague Dr. Eli Camp on Vital Wisdom.

We talk about the “Vital Force” lens on healing: your body’s capacity to move toward health when it has what it needs… and when we stop getting in the way.

We get into mindset, emotional health, why you don’t need a perfect diagnosis to start changing your life, and how momentum is built one small step at a time.

We even touch on polarity as an energy of balance and why “structure” can be medicine for the nervous system.
One of my favorite lines from the episode: health is more contagious than disease.

Check the whole thing out and subscribe to our channels on YouTube.

It’s that time of year again.

New goals.
New routines.
New motivation.

And that’s a good thing.

But here’s what quietly derails most people by February... and it is not a lack of discipline, not willpower, not effort.

It’s ignoring recovery.

Strength without mobility becomes tension.
Discipline without recovery becomes burnout.

Flexibility, mobility, and recovery aren’t “extras.”
They’re what allow your body to adapt instead of resist.

If your nervous system doesn’t feel safe, your body won’t change.
It tightens. It compensates. Eventually, it taps out.

Five to ten minutes a day of intentional stretching, mobility, or breath-based recovery will do more for your long-term progress than pushing harder ever will.

This is how you play the long game.
This is how strength becomes sustainable.

Train hard. Show up.
Just don’t skip the part that helps you keep going.

Stay curious. Stay empowered. Pursue health.

How many times have you promised yourself
“This year will be different”…
only to end up right back where you started?

Most people don’t fail because they don’t care.
They fail because diets are built on restriction, rules, and short-term thinking... that doesn't translate into better eating habits for the long term.

What if nutrition didn’t feel like a fight?
What if it actually supported your energy, your digestion, and your life?

On Tuesday, January 6th at 6:30 PM, I’ll be at Rainbow Blossom in the Highlands for a free talk called Ditch the Diet.

We’ll talk about:
• Sustainable, real-world nutrition
• Why most diets backfire
• How to eat in a way that actually sticks
• And how to support your health without extremes or guilt

This is about nourishment.
Consistency.
And building a relationship with food that works long term.

If you’re ready to stop starting over, come join us.

Late-night snacking isn’t about weakness or willpower.

Most of the time, it’s your nervous system finally downshifting after a long day.
Comfort. Under-fueling. Mental fatigue. Quiet seeking stimulation.

Your body isn’t sabotaging you.
It’s asking for rhythm and recovery.

When you understand that, the solution changes.

Awareness comes first.
That’s how real change begins.

Stay curious. Stay empowered. Pursue health always.

Be honest with yourself for a moment…

Is the way you’re eating actually working for you right now? Is it providing you with...
More energy?
Better digestion?
Sustainable habits you can live with?

If not, maybe it’s not you... maybe it’s the diet you've been trying to follow that just isn't working.

Join me Tuesday, Jan. 6th at 6:30 PM at Rainbow Blossom in the Highlands for a free talk called Ditch the Diet.

We’ll talk about how to eat in a way that supports your body long-term, without extremes, guilt, or starting over every January.

Sometimes the most powerful change starts with an honest question.

I want to talk about a book that may fundamentally change how you think about medicine, institutions, and truth.

The book is Forbidden Facts by Gavin de Becker.

This is not a book about being “anti” anything.
It’s a book about how decisions get made, who benefits, and what happens when institutions are incentivized to protect themselves instead of people.

The book walks through historical patterns we’ve seen again and again:
early warning signs ignored, whistleblowers dismissed, dissent framed as ignorance... and only years later does the truth quietly emerge.

If you care about health, safety, ethics, or informed consent, this book is required reading.

Whether you agree with every conclusion or not is beside the point.
You cannot responsibly discuss medical ethics or institutional trust without understanding this history.

Read it.
Then we can talk.

and by February, they’re already off it.

Maybe the problem isn’t willpower.
Maybe it’s the diet itself.

As the year comes to a close, many of us are reflecting on our health during 2025... what worked, what didn’t, and what we want to feel differently moving forward.

Here’s something I’ve learned after decades in this work:
real health doesn’t come from hacks, diets, or short-term plans.

It comes from changing how you relate to your body.

Health isn’t something you outsource.
It’s something you participate in every day... with curiosity, patience, and intention.

This message is an invitation to step into the new year with a different mindset.
One rooted in understanding, empowerment, and respect for how the body actually heals.

And if you’re ready to change your story in 2026, know that Vital Force Naturopathy is here to walk beside you.

Stay curious. Stay empowered. Pursue health always! Have a wonderful and healthy New Year! ~Dr. S
