What’s a Single Resource Unit… and why were they at this crash?
Last week, TVEMS crews responded to a two-vehicle rollover at the intersection of CR 7 and CR 16, along with Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Colorado State Patrol.
Here’s something you may not know:
In addition to our ambulances, TVEMS deploys Single Resource Units (SRUs) to certain incidents.
You may see these pickup trucks out in the community and listed in PulsePoint for an incident and wonder what they do. Great question!
At this incident:
🔹 CP32 responded as a command unit due to the potential complexity of a rollover with extrication. In situations that could escalate, command-level oversight ensures coordination, scene management, and readiness for a larger or prolonged medical response.
🔹 MEDIC 31 was staffed by a paramedic specialist who provides advanced clinical support to crews on scene. This includes capabilities such as blood product administration and high-level patient care interventions when needed.
In this case, the situation was more straightforward than initially reported, and the patient had self-extricated prior to our arrival. That is always a good outcome.
But preparedness matters.
SRUs allow us to scale our response appropriately, bring advanced clinical expertise directly to the scene, and support our ambulance crews in complex or high-risk situations.
They are an asset to our district and one more way we ensure the highest level of care when you need us most.
That is how we stay ready. Every call. Every time.🚑💙🫶
