Growing up feeling like an outsider, Justine found her purpose in helping others feel seen, supported, and understood. That journey led her to a career in mental health—and ultimately to NAMI, where she first connected through her work with TriHealth, this year’s presenting sponsor of NAMIWalks Southwest Ohio.

She joined her first NAMIWalks in 2012 and has shown up every year since—walking not just for herself, but for everyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t belong.

Today, that mission continues with the support of TriHealth, helping bring our community together to raise awareness, break stigma, and champion mental health for all.

NAMIWalks Southwest Ohio is more than a walk—it’s a movement. A chance to connect, share stories, and remind one another that no one walks alone. Every step we take together builds a stronger, more compassionate community.

Join Justine—and all of us—on May 9 at Sawyer Point. Walk with us. Show up. Make a difference.

We're so excited to announce that Sharing Hope is going to the Cincinnati Museum Center! 🖤✨

On April 18, NAMI of Southwest Ohio is partnering with local artist and nonprofit In Fly We Trust for a powerful community experience rooted in Black mental health and wellness.

This event was inspired by the creative vision of artist Jide, whose mental health workbooks — including one that draws on the teachings of the samurai — blend cultural wisdom with real, practical wellness tools. Together, we'll use that same energy to build our own mental health fitness plans, grounded in our lived experiences.

And because we believe in showing up for the whole person, your registration also includes access to explore the museum after our session!

This event is FREE, but spots are limited — don't wait!

Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, we honor and uplift the strength, resilience, and lived experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in our community. 💙💗🤍💗💙

We’re proud to share that NAMI Southwest Ohio staff member Hayes Hiltenbeitel recently spoke at Cincinnati City Hall alongside Mayor Aftab Pureval and other local leaders. One line from their speech continues to resonate deeply:
“Loving yourself isn’t an indulgence, it’s a responsibility.”

While today is about visibility and celebration, it’s also important to recognize the challenges. Trans and gender non-conforming individuals are nine times more likely to complete suicide—an urgent reminder of why support, affirmation, and accessible mental health resources matter.

You are not alone. 💛
NAMI Southwest Ohio offers LGBTQIA+ support groups:
• 1st & 3rd Mondays (online), 6:00–7:30 PM
• 2nd & 4th Mondays (in person)
📍 1639 W. North Bend Rd.
Cincinnati, OH 45224

Together, we can build a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported—not just today, but every day.

Meet Hailee, one of our incredible young adult presenters who brings authenticity, compassion, and courage to every Ending the Silence presentation she delivers to students in grades 6–12. Hailee shares her lived experience—and why it’s so important to her to reach young people in schools, helping them better understand mental health and know they’re not alone.

Through her story, Hailee creates space for honest conversations and empowers students to look out for themselves and each other.

NAMI Ending the Silence is an HB 123–approved violence-prevention program. Over the past year, we’ve reached more than 10,000 students across Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, and Clinton counties—completely free of charge to schools.
