But it doesn’t have to be that way.

✅ Building a clear plan to get back to the activities they love

Anyone can tell you to stop.

Stop squatting.
Stop running.
Stop your sport.

But that’s not real advice. Telling an athlete or active adult to avoid an activity-without a plan to return-just keeps you stuck in the pain cycle.

Rest alone doesn’t rebuild strength.
It doesn’t restore capacity.
And it definitely doesn’t prepare you to get back to the things you love.

Good rehab isn’t about stopping.

It’s about:

✅ Understanding what’s causing the pain
✅ Modifying the activity (not eliminating it)
✅ Building strength and tolerance
✅ Creating a clear progression back to full performance

If there’s no plan to get you back to those things it’s not rehab. It’s avoidance.

You don’t need to stop.
You need a strategy.

All the straight leg raises, clamshells, and band work wont prepare you for things like running, jumping, throwing, and lifting

When finding a physical therapist to work with, make sure they understand your goals and what you’re looking to get back to.

Rehab should bridge the gap between pain and performance. If it doesn’t challenge you, it wont change you

You don’t need less activity. You need to build a bigger bucket so that your body can handle more of it

✅ Strengthen the tissues that keep breaking down
✅ Progressively load them beyond what your sport or fitness activity demands
✅ Manage life stress because it matters
✅ Return with a plan, not guesswork

When capacity > load, the pain cycle breaks.
