Theraswim: Adaptive Aquatics for Kids

Located in Northern CO, TheraSWIM provides Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and aquatics for children with special needs.

TheraSWIM's goal is to help your child achieve their greatest potential using the POWER and FUN of WATER! We will work with you and your child to achieve function, ability, and skill in the water- which translates into better gross motor ability on land, higher confidence levels, and safety around water.

Hadley has participated twice in the TRI My Best Triathlon and we can’t wait to be a part of it again! She loves being cheered on by the crowd and other participants and loves to see all of the kids there, moving in their own ways. The entire event is so inspiring for everyone involved and really shows that there are no limits to what these incredible people and this community can do when everyone is encouraged to be their best.

TRI My Best is so much more than an adaptive triathlon for us — it’s one of the few spaces where our kids get to shine exactly as they are. As an autism family, we’re used to events that weren’t built with our children in mind. But on this day, everything shifts. The environment, the pace, and the support all meet kids of every ability right where they are developmentally, giving them the freedom to participate in a way that truly works for them.

Watching the pride on their faces as they cross the finish line is everything. TRI My Best gives kids the chance to try new challenges, make friends, and feel genuinely included. It’s a community of caring adults who don’t just cheer them on — they get them.

For our family, TRI My Best represents confidence, connection, and the reminder that every child deserves a place to try their best, feel proud, and be celebrated for exactly who they are!

Genevieve loves the TRI My Best triathlon and looks forward to it every year. She talks about it often, and as soon as one event ends, she’s already asking when the next one will be. She has participated every year since 2020. Genevieve works hard each week in multiple therapies, and no matter her challenges or progress, the triathlon meets her exactly where she is, giving her a chance to succeed and feel supported. It is an opportunity for her to showcase her efforts and work in a supportive environment.

Everyone deserves opportunities to do things they can be proud of—moments where they shine, surrounded by people who cheer them on. The TRI My Best event makes that possible.

"Our son Milo has participated in the TRI My Best event for three years. Not only does he look forward to the event every year, but we have seen him grow in confidence and challenge himself by upping the distance each time. It is such a gift for a young man with physical disabilities to push himself as an athlete, experience support and success, and be able to tell his peers about his big physical accomplishment. Without TRI My Best, Milo may not grasp how many things he CAN do, or have the confidence to push himself and find success in modified sports. This year, Milo’s younger brother Ambrose, who also has disabilities, was able to complete his first TRI My Best. It was a joy to see these two brothers shine! We are so thankful for the work TheraSWIM staff members do to give kids with disabilities this confidence booster, and it is an event our whole family loves!" - Milo and Ambrose's mom

Our Story

TheraSWIM's goal is to help your child achieve their greatest potential using the POWER and FUN of WATER! Our PTs, OTs, and adaptive swimming instructors will work with you and your child to achieve function, ability, and skill in the water- which translates into better gross motor ability on land, higher confidence levels, and safety around water. We pride ourselves in offering high quality physical therapy and adaptive lessons to children of all types of ages and special needs. All instructors and therapists are required to complete the Swim Whisperer certification by Swim Angelfish, a special needs curriculum that focuses on helping all children learn to swim faster with less discomfort than traditional methods.
