Maria Guadalupe (Melo) Lima

Maria Guadalupe (Melo) Lima, 90, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 18. She was the widow of the late Antonino G. Lima who passed away in 1996.

She was born on November 26, 1935 in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Luis Melo and the late Gertrudes (Cunha) Melo. She was raised and educated in that area, was married and immigrated to the United States in 1967.

She settled in Lowell and worked at Paris Shoe for a number of years and later Wang Laboratories. She retired from Old Mother Hubbard in the late 1990’s and enjoyed her retirement since then. She was a member of the Portuguese American Center (The Blues), the Holy Ghost Society, the Holy Rosary Sodality and St. Anthony Church. In addition to being very active in her parish and her faith she enjoyed crocheting. She was caring, kind and faithful in countless ways. Her family was the center of her world and she will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her daughter in law, Ligia Lima of Lowell, her 2 grandchildren, Jessica M. Lima of Billerica who was also her Goddaughter, Sarah Lima Nhem and her spouse, Savy Nhem of Lowell, her 8 great grandchildren, Jayden, Mario (MJ), Felicia, Sacario, Shylah, Elliana, Naliyaa and Naeceon and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was also the Mother of the late Mario C. Lima who passed away in 2010, and daughter in law of the late Antonio Lima and the late Amelia Lima, and sister in law of the the late Dionisia Espinola and the late Arlindo Espinola and the late Maria C. Rosa.

Family and friends are welcome to attend her calling hours on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 4 pm until 7 pm at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.

You are also welcome to attend her funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday, at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. followed by procession for burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Peter W. Bergamo, 87, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Peter carried his deep love for his hometown throughout his life, even after moving to Massachusetts five years ago.

Peter dedicated 26 years of his career to J.I. Case, where he was known for his hard work, reliability, and strong sense of camaraderie. He also served proudly in the New York State Army Reserve National Guard, embodying a lifelong commitment to service and duty.

A man of many passions, Peter was especially fond of Lionel trains, cheering on Syracuse University, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. His warm heart and joyful spirit were constants in his life—he was a storyteller, a jokester, and someone who genuinely never met a stranger. His friendly personality made everyone feel welcome.

Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Rita (Harnett) Bergamo, and his three daughters: Teri (Patrick) Ward, Peg (Steven) Sullivan, and Tricia (Joel) White. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Delavan, whom he now joins in eternal rest. He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Peter will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 18th at Holy Cross Church in NY. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.

In Loving Memory of H. Catherine Schlauraff

Cathy Schlauraff, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, born and raised in Lowell, MA passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025 surrounded by love.

She is survived by her son, John, and his wife, Jhocelyn, who will forever cherish her unwavering support, kindness, and the countless memories they shared. She was a proud grandmother to her two grandsons, John and Jacob, whose lives were brightened by her gentle spirit, laughter, and love.

Cathy is also survived by her three sisters, Patricia Bishop and her husband Geoffrey, Carol Dicker and her husband John, and Maureen Andricopoulos, with whom she shared a lifetime of stories, resilience, and family connection. She was the daughter of Edmond McCready and Rose Andricopoulos Banks.

Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her generosity, and her ability to make everyone around her feel seen and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave freely. She will be missed and forever loved.

In accordance with Cathy's wishes, there will be no public viewing. A private gathering for immediate family will take place. We appreciate your understanding during this time.

Julie Ann (O'Brien) Ramalho age 65, a longtime resident of Lowell, MA, lost her courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home with her husband and family by her side on November 27, 2025.

She was born on May 30, 1960, Julie was the daughter of Allen and Patricia Thain. She graduated from Billerica High School in 1978. She was a paraprofessional for many years at the Wang School in Lowell and always spoke so highly about her students. Julie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her frequent visits to Encore and Foxwood Casino along with summer vacationing at Loon Mountain.

Julie is survived by her beloved husband Arthur W. Ramalho, Jr. of 33 years and her son, Charles Lyle and his wife Kelly of Mount Pleasant, SC; her daughter Casey Ramalho and her wife Lakisha of Dracut. She is the proud grandmother of David, Elizabeth, Zayn and Cash. Her step son Jeremy and his wife Carly of Corinth, TX, step daughter Joselyn and her husband David of Round Rock, TX. Julie is also survived by her mother Patricia Thain of Dracut, her sister Tracey Greenwood and her husband Joseph of Dracut, her sister Rhonda Sweet and her partner William Paskiewicz of Lowell, and her brother Corey Thain and his wife Jessica of Frisco, TX.Julie also leaves behind her extended Ramalho family, David of Hollis, NH, Susan Keefe and her husband Frank of Tyngsboro, Cathy Trask and her husband Michael of Merrimack, NH and Joseph Ramalho of Dracut along with many nieces and nephews.

Julie was predeceased by her father Allen Thain, in 2005 and her brother Thomas O'Brien this past January 25th.

Debra Joyce McKinney-Wagner, 72, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Everett Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger McKinney-Wagner, who passed in 2020 after sixteen years of marriage.

Born on August 3, 1953, in St. Albans, Vermont, Debra was the daughter of the late Harley Young and the late Joyce (Greenier) Young. She grew up in St. Albans,before her family relocated to Massachusetts. Over the years she lived in various cities throughout the Merrimack valley, and even spent a period of time in Texas and New Mexico, though Lowell, Massachusetts was always home for most of her life.

She was always one to strike up a conversation, and thoroughly enjoyed socializing with her friends at the Lighthouse Nursing center in Revere. Among her many talents she was once an accomplished artist, and as a student of Nashoba Valley Technical High School assisted in the design of the school logo at that time. In her later years nothing brought her more happiness than watching a good television show, while enjoying takeout from her favorite restaurants.

Debra is survived by her children, Megan O’Toole and her husband Robert of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Korey McKinney and his wife Adelle of Mahwah, New Jersey. She also leaves her brother Roland Young Sr. of Concord, New Hampshire. She is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Isidoro Tourinho Rego, 69, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Silva) Rego.

He was born in Portugal on December 29, 1955 and was a son of the late Isidoro Antonio Rego and the late Maria Lourdes Tourinho Rego. He was raised and educated in Portugal before meeting and marrying his wife, Maria, and immigrated to the United States, settling in Lowell to raise a family.

For many years he worked in the manufacturing field, eventually retiring as an assembly line supervisor.

Isidoro was a gentle yet hardworking man who genuinely cared about people. He was a soccer fan and ardent supporter of Sporting Clube de Portugal, and he also enjoyed deep sea fishing. Additionally, he was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League “The Reds Club” for many years.

Besides his wife of 42 years, Maria (Silva) Rego, he is also survived by their 2 sons, Alvaro Rego and his significant other Jessica Byron of Dracut, and Joshua Rego of Lowell. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Devin, Aubrey, Kailey, and Emma, his siblings, Lola Rego, Belmira Rego, Alcides Rego, and Ermelinda Rego, all of Portugal, Tone Chico Rego of Spain, and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Manuela Rego.

On Saturday, November 29, 2025 all are welcome to attend his funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell.

Scott Patrick Cooper

Scott Patrick Cooper, 42, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Lahey Clinic Medical Center from injuries sustained in a recent traffic accident. Born on August 20, 1983, he was the son of the late Timothy Cockerline and the late Donna (Gosson) Cooper. He grew up in Lowell and Westford and attended local schools, including Westford Academy.

Scott had a big heart and an adventurous spirit. He loved riding his bike, fishing, swimming, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was outgoing and always carried a positive outlook. Scott was the type of person who could quickly ease tension and smooth over any situation—someone who naturally brought people together.

A skilled laborer, Scott worked in construction throughout the greater Lowell area, and he also spent time working with Home Depot in Dorchester.

He is survived by his two brothers, Steve Cooper and his wife Marilyn of Nashua, and Jason Cooper of Lowell; his niece, Madison Cooper; his aunts Kelly and Cindy along with his cousin Renee; and many close friends, including Rob, Rick, Mike, Bill, and Jen.

Daniel W. Carroll, 79, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025.

Born in Lowell on December 9, 1945, he was the son of the late James F. and Margaret T.(Cavanaugh) Carroll]. He was educated at Sacred Heart School and graduated from Lowell High School.

Dan lived a life marked by perseverance, integrity, and quiet strength. His candid humor, thoughtful wisdom, and steadfast character touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Throughout his life, he exemplified an unwavering work ethic and a deep sense of pride in every endeavor. His career included serving as a fire engineer on steam boilers, a driver for the Mitre Corporation, a tree foreman for the City of Lowell, and later a security officer at Madison Security. In every position, Dan took great pride in his work. His dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Dan found joy outdoors, whether fishing on a quiet afternoon, snowmobiling through the winter woods of Maine, or spending time with his faithful canine companion (Daisy). He cherished being active and close to nature throughout his life.

In his later years, Dan found comfort, belonging, and love within his chosen family. To them, he was far more than a friend, he was a grandfather figure and was family. He embraced their families as his own, sharing in holidays, family dinners, stories, and spirited games of cribbage. He took delight in his daily lottery numbers and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Boston Red Sox.

His legacy is one of hard work and devotion to the people he cherished, qualities that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his care givers Michael Allen and Sharon Spanos, and their families, Suzanne, Kevin, Christopher, Emma Allen, and Nicholas, Andrew, and Helena Spanos, who will carry his memory forward with love and honor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, Massachusetts. Visiting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at Lowell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice in Dan's memory.
