The Larry Combest Community Health & Wellness Center offers its Senior House Calls program to provide primary care services in the homes of aging individuals in the area who are experiencing challenges getting to medical facilities. It also accepts younger disabled individuals experiencing the same difficulties.

Patients receive care in their homes from nurse practitioners and a clinical social worker who provides community resources and counseling when requested.

Senior House Calls accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most Medicare Advantage Plans.

𝙏𝙏𝙐𝙃𝙎𝘾 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙮 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠: 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙨 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨! We asked students at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo campus, “How many TTUHSC campuses do we have, and where are they located?”

There are five TTUHSC campuses: Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas, Lubbock and Odessa. Frequently mistaken for campuses, Mansfield and Midland are considered teaching sites. And TTUHSC El Paso is a separate university within the Texas Tech University System.

Sarina George, a third-year “P3” student in the TTUHSC-Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy at the Dallas campus, recently presented a research poster at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Mid-Year Conference.

“I loved presenting at Midyear,” she said. “Sharing my knowledge on my research and helping others understand the significance and impact of this work was extremely meaningful to me. As a third-year student, this experience fueled my excitement to continue doing research and return to Midyear next year.”

Gerard E. Carrino, Ph.D., MPH, dean of the TTUHSC-Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health, will be inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP) as a Distinguished Fellow of the Public Health Academy.

Carrino will be formally inducted into the NAP at the Induction Banquet and Awards Ceremony during the Annual Meeting and Forum in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 14, 2026.
