UMC EMS Communications Center answers more than 4,500 calls each month, providing critical support to our community when it matters most. We are incredibly proud of our communications team and the lifesaving role they play in connecting responders with those in need.

As an accredited communications center, we are honored to be part of an elite group committed to excellence. From guiding callers through CPR and controlling severe bleeding to assisting with emergency childbirth, our team is there every step of the way offering both expertise and a steady, compassionate voice during times of crisis.

Jackie Buck began his EMS career in 1980 at age 21, when the service operated just three ambulances in Lubbock. Over the past 45 years, he has witnessed tremendous growth while remaining dedicated to serving the community.

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of one of our own.

Audrey Newman joined our EMS family six years ago and quickly became a beloved friend and coworker. Her dedication, kindness, and presence will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We are proud to welcome home, Paramedics Fernanda Vera and Joseph Hunt and the rest of Strike Team 201, to their corresponding departments following their deployment as a medical asset supporting TIFMAS wildland firefighters.

They have been deployed since December 19th through January 2nd, and will have another one of our crews relieve them.

Throughout their deployment Fernanda and Joseph provided critical EMS coverage for fire operations, including response to the Mistletoe Fire in Randall County on Christmas Day—serving through the holiday to ensure the safety and medical support of fire crews on the front lines.

Wildland deployments demand long hours, adaptability, and teamwork under extreme conditions. Their professionalism and commitment exemplify the strength of mutual aid and the dedication of EMS providers who answer the call wherever they’re needed.

Welcome Home, Fernanda and Joseph, thank you for continuing to represent our community and service, with pride and honor.

It is with profound sadness that UMC EMS announces the loss of one of our own, Daniel Le. Daniel was not only a dedicated member of our team, but also a cherished friend. We were all privileged to work alongside him. His commitment to service, his compassion for others, and his unwavering professionalism left an impact that will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Daniel’s family, friends, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss. As we honor his memory, we remain grateful for the time we shared and the countless lives he touched.

On July 3rd, UMC EMS had the opportunity to support Echo West Texas during the soft launch of their monthly CommUNITY Day, an initiative connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with vital services. Kelli Barrera and Jackie Adams assisted by conducting wellness checks and basic vital assessments. Kelli has been involved with Echo West Texas prior and plans to continue volunteering monthly.
