Help us welcome Shaila to the PTA Team!

Shaila Isham earned her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Texas Woman's University in Dallas. Prior to that, she danced professionally for several contemporary ballet companies and worked as a certified strength and conditioning coach. Shaila is a proud graduate of the University of Arizona, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a minor in Physiology. She is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy and certified in treating myofascial trigger points through dry needling.

Shaila enjoys working with all patient populations, with a special interest in sports injuries, chronic pain syndromes, and general orthopedics. She is interested in integrating her dance background, knowledge of strength and conditioning, therapeutic exercise, and injury prevention with rehabilitation for all populations.

Shaila is married to her husband, Joseph, and they have one beautiful daughter. In her free time, Shaila enjoys reading, traveling, and eating good Italian food. Shaila was born and raised in Austin, Texas, so she will forever be longhorn at heart!

I came to Physical Therapy Associates after injuring my back.

I was in severe pain. I could only walk short distances before the pain stopped me.

As a result of the PT I received, my pain decreased significantly, and I was able to resume normal activities.

The therapist with whom I worked were awesome. They were kind, respectful, and compassionate - but also challenged me by gradually increasing the therapy exercises.

I am exceedingly grateful for the assistance I received and the healing that resulted.

This was the first time I've ever been sent to rehab for therapy. I was very pleasantly surprised that the atmosphere was so friendly while also being professional. My therapist, Becca, was very knowledgeable about exactly which exercises I needed for my two distinct medical problems. When I told her about my balance and dizzy problems, she also included therapy for those problems. After being in therapy for almost 10 weeks, I feel so much better with diminished pain and improved balance. She ended our last session by sending me home with a print out of the exercises for me to continue on my own. I have nothing but praise for Physical Therapy Associates and Becca.

Let me tell you about my P.T. with Lex at Physical Therapy Associates; I needed help with my walking and balance as I journey with Parkinson's.

A lot of the exercises seem simple to others, but they helped me so much - even my posture was better. I feel more confident in my walking and I want to thank Lex!

Jill was fantastic!

Hard to believe I was almost immobile after surgery to almost 100% now. She pushed me hard enough to recover correctly and use techniques and equipment that I would've never thought would be helpful. I am able to take a lot of these new exercises and implement them into my gym routine as well. Highly recommend!

I started PT because my body had literally stop participating in existing. I couldn't walk without support. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't play with my five-year-old. I experience my right leg giving out completely at five months pregnant and earned a handicap placard and a membership to your lovely facility.

Since I started, I've received and learned how to incorporate import exercises and tools that have significantly boosted my mobility and decreased my pain levels. My mental health is so much better without the chronic pain too. I've been able to rest to my hearts content. I am forever grateful.

I began physical therapy with pain in my left arm. Scans revealed a labral tear. My goal was to avoid surgery.

I started my PT training with Autumn and Jaron. They were great listeners and understood my goals. They were patient, encouraging, and always explained everything we were doing. Overall, my PT journey lasted for many months. Jill took over as my guide about halfway through. With her guidance, expertise, and genuine care, I transitioned from apprehension and relative weakness to feeling stronger and confident - to not only find my mobility again, but to tap back into my athleticism - dormant for a little while.

Thank you Jill for your intelligence, kindness, and wise guidance!
