The monk’s reply reveals a quiet truth about suffering...
The past has no power in the present moment unless you give it one.
It no longer exists anywhere except in memory.
What already happened is not happening now,
yet the mind keeps revisiting it, turning memory into pain.
Suffering does not come from the past itself,
but from repeatedly reliving what has already ended.
This moment is untouched, fresh, and alive.
Reality exists only here, only now.
When you stop feeding old stories with attention,
they slowly lose their grip, and peace returns to where it has always been — in the present. 🌿
